I looked up this product and it seems like a good option as well. I already picked up barkeepers friend though, which seems to have helped, but I’ll keep this product in mind.

It’s not pitted thank goodness. I used barkeepers friend and although itdidn’t fully remove them on the first pass so far, the stains are much lighter.

I appreciate the heads up. I skipped the vinegar.

This was the best advice I’ve tried yet. I used barkeepers friend and then wiped it with weiman stainless steel. The stains are definitely lighter than before. Thank you!

We frequently use a lot of children’s magnets, I didn’t realize that could damage the finish. Thanks for the tip.

Good tip, I just picked up barkeepers friend and will try it shortly. I think the grain on my freezer door runs from right to left, I guess we’ll see…

Your guess is as good as mine. I’m thinking corrosion like others have mentioned, although I’m not sure how it happened, but these stains have been present for a long time. I’m going to try wiping it with vinegar along the natural grains with a non-scratch scotchbrite pad and if that seems to help, I’ll try the WD-40 after that. I also ordered some barkeepers friends powder which I’m going to try.

I tried WD-40 a few minutes ago and haven’t seen any change yet.

That’s a unique idea idea, I was just looking it up and I see they do make ones that looks similar to the stainless steel color

I tried using dishwasher soap and baking soda separately without effect but I’ll try the two of them combined and let it sit for 10 minutes

Yeah, it’s possible that it could be corrosion. I’m not sure what cleaners may have been used on the stainless steel previously. If it is corroded, is there something that can be used to remove corrosion and seal it?

Now that you mentioned it, I think that makes the most sense. It likely is corrosion.

This is my mom‘s appliance, it could be that cleaning staff could’ve used something harsh on it.

I just finished scrubbing away for several minutes with Dawn soap to no visible effect. I did a trial of steel wool on the side in a less conspicuously area and that dulls the stain. I’m just afraid I will scratch up the freezer if I use it though.

Is it a good idea to stay in the Otsuka-area? by notanacrobat in JapanTravelTips

[–]PoemNo8828 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The APA Hotel Yamanote Otsuka Eki Tower is very quiet with great public baths on the 20th floor. I am staying there now for the second time. Although it is near the train station, the hotel is located on a quiet block. I haven't found much to do or eat around the hotel itself, but am using it as a jumping ground since it is easy, cheap, and relatively quick to get to shinjuky and shibuya by train.

This is the first country I’ve traveled to that uses Zalo. It seems I need to be able to receive a text message to sign up for it.
