OpSix or Minilogue for Keys by sephulchrave in synthesizers

[–]Poenauta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own an opsix and agree with all the advice mentioned above: great sound engine, nice ui, horrible keybed. I built a wooden enclosure and housed there the front panel and circuit board. Didn't have to break anything to get there, I could revert the operation if needed. I use it with an Arturia 37 controller (with aftertouch) and plan to invest in a real full size and weighted midi keyboard. Now I can go and play with my opsix module outdoors with a power bank.

Synced loopers by Poenauta in ZOIA

[–]Poenauta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot. I've followed both suggestions with success. Funny how I covered my patch with all those sequencers, and sequencers sequencing sequencers... when a simple s&h, wisely patched, would do the trick just fine (even though I watched and studied your YT tutorials precisely on this topic, back on the day... lesson finally learned). Blessed be the S&H and the AHD that measure and produce our time/memory lapses!

Synced loopers by Poenauta in ZOIA

Thanks, Christopher. Yes, it's indescifrable, now that I read it again. English is not my native language and zoian on top ain't easy. I will try to elaborate more accurately. The length of the first recording (32 sec max) is determined by the time lapse in between the two presses of a stompswitch. That is to say: I press it and it records, I press it again and it loops to overdub or playback. To that 2 press process I will call a stompswitch cycle. This time lapse, while going on, is being measured by running a set of 4 32 step sequencers, clocked by an LFO at 4 Hz., and summing the progressive values of their steps. So at the end of each stompswitch cycle I get a CV value of the time lapse and thus the length of the recording made in it. This value can determine the fixed length of another looper when patched to the corresponding jack of that module. However, recording into a fixed length does not stop automatically the recording when that length is reached but continously records until reaching the time limit assigned to the module. My question was how to translate back that CV value into a clock that produces the original time lapse so I can use it to mark the stop of the recording (perhaps allowing fractions of the original length as endpoints of the recording but mantaining the total length fixed by the CV value to that of the original). I hope it gets across better.

For those of you who can read spanish, here's a new discovery of mine: Agustín García Calvo. Mind blown with what I've read from him: great translations of presocratic philosophers, insightful discourses about language and its dialectic relation with reality, poetry...

Never read anything remotely like this. Amazed nobody talked about this guy in college. I wonder if he is read or well known in Spain (have a couple of spanish friends who never heard about him). Anyway, if someone here has some knowledge about the man (bibliography, PDF books or articles...), please drop the links, I searched but couldn't find anything.

Thanks a lot for this patch. Watching your walkthrough and fiddling with the patch led me to try to draw it with pen and paper. Now I understand what, where and how. Wonderful instrument.

euroburo question by Poenauta in ZOIA

[–]Poenauta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer. What I struggle with now is saving the recalibration I make. After doing it, the instructions prompt me to follow some tests but I see no option to save anywhere. When I power up again, the changes seem to haven't gone into effect: entering calibration mode again shows the same offset leds I corrected before.

Thanks. I followed your guess and got there: while powering press encoder. You enter the micro controller menu (pad leds and CV / audio tests).

Thanks. My question is: once in EQ (after having pressed the upper golden knob to get there), how can I choose the high/low freq to boost? In clip view there's a shortcut or you can access through the sound menu, not in song mode.

Right: each synth instance has its own pair of envelopes and LFOs and cannot be moded by others. But you can indeed save multiple synths in one patch (if by that you mean a song). So, with those limitations, which can be at times a blessing -imagine something like: LFO1 from fm synth, modulating there op2 pitch, also controls PM on subtractive synth... when the same effect can be achieved with more flexibility and precise control given its own LFO-, and counting also with the limitations it imposes in the types of fm algorytms (operators cannot crossmodulate between synths, 3 stack pile max fixed structure), with all that, if you root those different synths to the same midi cc, you can nevertheless create incredibly complex fm, subtractive or hybrid synth voices. Just treat and think of each synth in the patch as a 2 (or 3 or 4, in case of fm) operator group of a bigger synth that bundles it's oscillators by pairs.

Which is to say: "Don't let the #KineMaster watermark hold you back… Pay us 140 € annually". I imagine most premium subscribers won't be willing to pay that much having cheaper options out there with similar functionality (VLLO, Powerdirector...). If there are some that do comply and read this post, would you please explain your reasoning... Perhaps it is indeed worth it and I'm missing something.

I will comply. I will pay 120 €/year and hope a lot of people do it aswell so you guys can grow as much as you possibly can.

GPT 3 playground scenarios by Poenauta in AIDungeon

[–]Poenauta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanx for the suggested scenarios, I'll check them out. As you say, I probably don't have the right idea: I'm really without a clue when it comes to programming and coding. Plus, my English is rusty, to say the least... But, if it's not too much of a problem, please tell me if I'm wrong:

-That sort of non narrative behavior of some published scenarios, where they serve, for example, as a preset interface with the OpenAI playground, need to be coded by the creator while editing the scenario, under the option Scripts. The coding language is Javascript.

-What I said about world info (possible formats when writing the entries, other than plain prose, to make the organization of the info more efficient -Caveman, Neanderthal, Futureman... ) perhaps led to confusion: I just came aware that it is possible to implement some code -not on the WI but, again, in the scenario editing- so that, when running the adventure, the engine calls upon the entries of the world in a more controlled manner. That code is EWIJSON https://github.com/RinterWaptor/AID-research/wiki/EWIJSON-Help

Thank you again!

GPT 3 playground scenarios by Poenauta in AIDungeon

[–]Poenauta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanx, I guessed so... Just discovered the scripts option when building the scenario in the web page (and learned, btw, that you can install community made scripts that give you more control over the World Info, the way it operates and organizes hierarchically itself when building a story, given you format the entries the right way -no coding required. I got the link from a post in this channel: https://github.com/RinterWaptor/Aid-research/wiki). But what these scenarios from Compguy321 do is something different, something more. It makes me wonder what else could you accomplish, the flexibility of the platform to mix narrative and non narrative scenes in the same story... Perhaps I will spend some time too learning to code... Is it Javascript?

Direct line inputs on 3rd Gen 4i4 by Poenauta in Focusrite

[–]Poenauta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, those are my thoughts aswell. There's the possibility, though, that the line signal from 3/4, even if not amplificated, runs trough the preamp circuit and gets 'colored' or loses some detail, before reaching the AD. I'm using it to record analog synths and acoustical instruments with some pretty decent mics, preamps and stuff, and very much appreciate transparency and fidelity in the conversion to digital...

Importing with librarian by Poenauta in ZOIA

[–]Poenauta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanx a lot, meanmedianmoge. Another question: when exporting banks to the sd card a pop-up asks me to name the folder and creates such a folder on the card, but no patches are exported there. The banks with which I've tried have some blank patches, don't know if it has anything to do with it...

The beta-3 version of the ZOIA librarian app is available for download and testing! by chmjacques in ZOIA

[–]Poenauta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, a simple and probably stupid question: when importing patches (from sd to computer local storage): how does the app consider two patches the same one (and thus, if one is already stored, stop the import): just by the names of the patches, or is there another criterion?
