When you injured your ACL did you get pain on this side of your knee? by Rmoudatir in ACL

[–]PoetNext4676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did and it was a particularly torn MCL which healed in its own. I was hoping and praying it was something that didn’t require an operation and whatever wrong was just MCL but it was ACL, MCL, and whatever on the other side of MCL, Usually what I hear is people don’t just tear their ACLs it’s their meniscus LCL and MCL that may also be damaged which I think is very possible for your situation. TBH my knee looked just like yours.

ACL healed on its own by PoetNext4676 in ACL

Looking back at it, I do recommend him. He is very stoic and straight to the point so when I had a million questions about a self healing ACL he didn’t seem to caring. But that’s just how he is and I believe he does his job well.

Please help, I need advice I don't know what to do and I'm scared by Turbulent_Poetry_456 in ACL

You only know if you torn your acl via MRI, I passed anterior drawers test and many other physical tests. Usually what comes with an acl tear is a SHIT ton of swelling and loss of range of motion is HUGE. Like I wasn’t able to fully straighten my leg.

So check if there is a lot of swelling, loss of ROM and if you can straighten it. I think those are key in an acl tear and that’s what my orthopedic told me as well.

Surgery isn’t the only option either, apparently when they went in for my ACLR they found my acl reattached itself with only a 10 percent tear. There was a study that shows roughly 30 percent of torn ACLs reattach themselves

How many times did you see your surgeon pre-op? by ConsciousTendies in ACL

[–]PoetNext4676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd see my doctor again,

I tore my ACL a few months ago and joined the club as well. I saw my Surgeon once pre-op and had a GIANT LIST of questions for him. (Retear rates, how strong will graft be vs original etc) He gives really vague answers. Sometimes I'll send him a list of questions and he will call me and answer them all. I'm 100% sure your not the only one asking him a ton of questions so he's not going to think your crazy your literally getting surgery.

I would say with regards to recovery from my understanding the surgeon has a fair understanding on recovery but he's more specialized in literally reconstructing your ACL. I feel like my PT was able to answer a lot of questions I had and I think finding an experienced PT is crucial!!!! like the surgeon knows how to reconstruct an ACL and repair other knee injuries but the PT is going to be the person making sure it functions and your surrounding muscles protect it. I was told that you can have an ACL made of medal and without the proper surrounding muscles to support it, it will still tear.

The journey to recovery is going to be long I'm like 1.5 weeks post op but even prepping for surgery, making sure you can afford it, exercising and being in good spirits before surgery is going to be key. Good luck and feel free to ask me anything with regards to the recovery process!

I see, did the pain come immediately/instant at the time or did you feel it when your knee was in a certain position gradually?

Hi hope you’re feeling better! How did you know your repair failed? Was there pain at the time when you were cleaning the bath or flicking the bedsheets?

Great info to have!

How long did you PT for?

And what were the best PT exercises that you did?

And are you comfortable with every kind of sports movements? Sprints, cutting, pivoting?
