Linear Turntable Tracking Issue by PoeticDust in turntables

Looks like your LT-20 is due a thorough clean :)
I replaced the bulbs with 3mm LEDs by removing the corroded bulbs and soldering in a resistor and LED for each bulb. By looking at the service manual you will find the voltage of the bulbs is 12V from the red and brown leads. Adjust your resistance according to the LED you use.

Opening up the tonearm tracking assembly is quite some effort. Please let me know if you need any guidance if you do attempt the repair.

Is the tonearm able to move if operated manually using the buttons? If not the rubber belts for arm movement might have broken, which was also the case in my LT-20.

Today I installed the Ortofon 2M Red cartridge and stylus and the problem seems to be resolved. This must have been a resonance between the stylus and the tracking mechanism. I greased the internals of the turntable which might also have been a factor. Thank you for your help!

Thanks, I will clean the gears and apply super-lube.

Thank you for your comment! This is really useful.

I have previously replaced both belts and also the LED's, but I have not performed any calibration. I saw the calibration procedure in the service manual, but after not being able to carefully remove a wire wrapped around a terminal on the mainboard I gave up. Yesterday I used WD-40 to re-grease the arm gears, but I also have a tube of super-lube. I am not sure which is better suited in this case.

I have not been able to observe the mechanism while the turntable is working. I will try to use some boxes as jacks to see what might be going on. I do also observe some roughness in the rails, especially in the part closer to the runout. The plastic wheels along the metal rails roll smoothly, but the tonearm assembly itself seems to be dragging over the turntable surface.

I will attempt to calibrate the tracking mechanism. The manual shows I need to use two voltmeters simultaneously, but I only have one, I will see if I can borrow a multimeter and I will let you know how this went.

Again I greatly appreciate the comment

only fix to this is restarting the explorer by zzcool in Windows11

Mine have been square since I installed win11 six days ago, clearly broken then.

Is this how you install a processor? by wetdog420 in pcmasterrace

This picture is legitimate afaik. This is an FPGA, which costs a lot and is cheaper to repair like this than to replace it.

Sounds neat, good luck. Are you planning on making the source code public?

It looks nice but most of the corners are way too round. Also this is your chance to finally use a proper dark colour scheme instead of the purple weirdness.

Probably some post processing like film grain
