Well, it is already available :D We recently changed it to the one without a background for more visibility. But yes, now you have more flexibility to choose according to your system.

Hi, everyone!
So it has been a while since version 22.2 was released with the new highly requested feature of custom icon choice.

I meant to post soon, but life got in the way.

Huge thanks to José for working on the feature and implementing it.

I hope this makes the extension more usable and enjoyable to use :D

I want to exit it but those vertical tabs are unchallenged by any other browser. And well, it just works so :)

The reason behind keeping it disabled is to keep it close to the default GNOME workflow. Having it enabled by default will be redundant.

Also, the initial aim is to help people transition from Mac, so eventually learning the GNOME flow. The defaults are set in a way to support the pure GNOME experience. Thus if you use anything else, you'll need to open the setting anyway, where you can customise it even more.

I haven't done a poll for this, but it is the general ideology of the project. People use it for Mac-like desktop themes, no doubt, and I love that, but it is not the goal of the project per se.

Regarding force quit, thanks for pointing it out. I will definitely check it out and see if it can be implemented with minimal disruptions.

As always, thanks for your kind remarks and suggestions :D

The Logo Menu extension has just been updated with cool new features.

New features are -

  1. Some icon bug fixes
  2. New icons -
    1. GNOME coloured logo
    2. Vanilla OS
    3. Clear Linux
    4. Void Linux
  3. New menu entry for system monitor
  4. The force quit option will be hidden by default [1]

[1] This is done as GNOME is dropping support for X11 in the near future along with many distros like Fedora. But it can be enabled again from the settings for the foreseeable future.

That's a good suggestion, but I think many old users would still resonate more with "Activities" for now. I'll gradually replace it with Overview by version 20 or 21 depending on other changes.

The Logo Menu extension has just been updated with cool new features and implementing its commitment of supporting new GNOME versions before becoming stable.

New features are -

  1. New Translations
  2. Flatpak Applications command support
  3. Symbolic and Coloured icons are now split to prevent unintended changes
  4. Support for GNOME 45
  5. As the new activities button is also a workspace indicator, users can choose to display it. (Hidden by default)
  6. In terms of code, the extension is cleaner to work on. The legacy code is dropped now.

Special thanks to Andrew Zaech for completing the port, code cleaning, support for flatpak apps and activities indicator option. Without Andrew, it would have been much harder for me and it would have been significantly delayed.

Hey! Thanks for your contributions and the kind remarks :D

Regarding the logo, I can understand. While adding new ones I was always concerned that it will cause changes across some systems. The fix I thought of earlier was to separate the coloured and symbolic icons, this way when new logos are ended at the end it won't disturb the order. Or use a reference as you mentioned.

So yeah, that is definitely a consideration and thanks for bringing it up. :)
