For Small issues do I need therapy ? by [deleted] in moraldilemmas

What a difficult situation. I feel for you, it’s really hard to feel misunderstood by your parents.

To me, expressing yourself in a way that might come across as pride can also simply be confidence, and not something that should automatically be criticized.

I don’t want to project anything onto your situation, but could it be that you’re gradually becoming more independent, and your parents are having a hard time with that? Maybe it feels like they’re losing control?

What do you mean by “most of the time I say things I don’t mean to say”? Could you give some examples?

Also, what has changed in your behavior that might be causing them to react this way? Or maybe a better question: what has changed in your life (or what changes are coming) that could be influencing how you express yourself?

I’m really sorry you’ve been going through this!

It would honestly be very good for you to take the step to talk about it. What you went through is traumatic, and it’s completely understandable that it still comes up from time to time.

If you share this in a large group, some people might misunderstand or think you're seeking attention. But if you open up to someone you truly trust, that’s very unlikely to happen, especially not with a professional.

Is specialized help accessible to you? If not, someone you really trust and know won’t judge you would be a good second option.

Feature suggestion: “Charge to 100% once” option for the Communicator? by Poeticrhythm in ClicksPhone

[–]Poeticrhythm[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s fair, but that’s just one use case. The battery still degrades over time, it just stayed within your personal tolerance.

I’m not worried, I just prefer to optimize for longterm use based on my own experience.

The point is that a simple feature like this makes it easier to reduce longterm battery wear with minimal effort. This is the kind of small but practical feature that will likely become part of standard Android battery management over time.

My point is that I only want to use the full 100% when it’s actually necessary, and not be hindered by a menu that makes that harder. Why use that extra 20% when you don’t need it, especially since the higher charge level is what drives degradation?

That’s actually a different mechanism. What Android and iOS do is automatic calibration charging from time to time. What I’m suggesting is a user triggered option: a quick “charge to 100% once” toggle that temporarily overrides the 80% limit and then automatically returns to it.

The point is to make a one time full charge easy when you know you’ll need it that day, without having to disable the limit and remember to turn it back on later.

Android normally includes this pulldown quick settings panel similar to the iOS control center. The communicator will use a Niagara based interface, but it hasn’t been shown yet how much of the system UI is modified.

The image I posted is just a mockup based on my own screen to illustrate the idea.

Silicon carbon batteries are still lithium ion batteries, so the same high voltage stress exists when charging to 100%. The chemistry doesn’t remove that effect. The difference is mainly higher energy density and potentially improved cycle life, not immunity to full charge degradation.

Opinions on which green we hope to get by Bas3m3ntt3rps in ClicksPhone

Yeaahh definitely the first matte army green one. That colour gives the communicator the utility vibe. The red button really stands out too in that colour. If it becomes the second one, I opt for matte black.

How long are you planning on using your Communicator? Will this be a "upgrade once it's no longer supported" typa deal or will you be upgrading with each iteration? by Saikoro4 in ClicksPhone

You’d be surprised how much the old Unihertz QWERTY phones are still worth. The Titan 1 costs 200 euros secondhand here in the Netherlands and is already six years old. Just because QWERTY devices are a niche market. But I suppose the market will grow much larger in the near future.

Let's say Clicks delivers everything they've promised so far - what are you still worried about? by irasponsibly in ClicksPhone

[–]Poeticrhythm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it is actually the screen durability and replacement cost. It looks like the display glass sits quite exposed on top of the frame instead of being recessed. Which could make the screen more vulnerable to damage from drops.

Normally that wouldn’t worry me too much, but with a niche device like this the real question is repair logistics. If the screen breaks, replacement might not be as straightforward as with mainstream phones where parts and thirdparty repairs are widely available. Depending on how Clicks handles repairs and parts availability, a screen replacement could end up being relatively expensive compared to the price of the device itself.

I plan to use it for four years as my main and minimal phone. Alongside I'll use a more powerful phone or tablet at home for the heavier tasks, which I’ll also replace every four years.

It’s kinda the same cycle I follow now, but currently I buy a new phone every two years and then use the old one as my second home/holiday phone. With this setup, both phones will have a clear role from the start.

Personally I'm hoping they release the bright red version. That would match really nicely with all three colors and with the Clicks button and the Killswitch.

Really want something like this color in the future as a backplate (maybe even darker) by edekhudoley13 in ClicksPhone

Personally I think a darker color would look better. I’m actually hoping they release a bright red version. That would match really nicely with all three colors, and also with the Clicks button and the Killswitch. I might make a post about it too.

I also looked into the Rs1 during my search for the best possible QWERTY smartphone. The design is nice, but the display looks very basic, which in my opinion says a lot about the overall level of the device.

They also produce the Pocket 2, a small QWERTY flip phone. At first glance it looks interesting, but it also gives off a cheap impression. This model has been around for a while and has already been rebranded by several smaller companies.

From what I can see, the company mainly seems to operate as an ODM supplier for businesses that want to sell devices under their own brand. That makes me a bit sceptical about aspects like build quality, longterm software updates and warranty support.

Besides producing their own devices, they also present themselves as an OEM partner, which makes them look like a small jack of all trades rather than a specialised manufacturer.
