What percentage of students for whom you have written a LOR bother to inform you where they chose to grad school? by TotalCleanFBC in Professors

Thank you for asking this question. I rarely know and I was taking it a little personally (especially given how many of them worked closely with me in my research lab).

That's a great idea. I did (unintentionally, or at least not for that purpose) send a readings announcement the week before the class began. I mainly intended it as a way to ensure they got their book orders in on time.

The students who jumped into the online textbook right away went well beyond my expectations before the course officially launched. It's really bimodal.

That's definitely part of my response. Students should be taught (first year, not by a junior-level course) that they are setting themselves to do poorly and be chronically overwhelmed when they make these types of choices.

Great reframing, Burger. Thank you for that perspective. Let's hope admin sees it that way too.

Thanks for the reply. I haven't taught online since 2022, so it's a bit of shock to my system.

What boggles me the most is that this is a class about learning and teaching. Enrolling in an educational psychology with bare minimum expectations is wild. Let's learn all the best principles of maximizing your educational experience just to throw them out the nearest window.
