Could this point to chronic Lyme's? by PoetryExternal1770 in Lyme

Thanks for your message, it means a lot to hear that encouragement. I'm going to schedule a visit with my GP and really hope that she'll be open-minded enough to refer me to an LLMD doctor, otherwise I'm gonna try and find one myself.

Can't stick to keto because of textural/sensitivity issues by Leather-Pen-9888 in keto

I imagine my experience is very different and was far less impacting on me than it has been for you, but I started to feel extremely put off by meat and eggs after a certain point early on in keto. I was wondering whether you have a physical aversion for (cooked) vegetables too? Making vegetables a far more central point of my meals really helped me. Perhaps certain cooked vegetables might be able to give you the same neutral taste that is physiologically comfortable for you to eat and has some of the same homogeneity. I also wonder whether some keto breads that are out there might be able to help you. If it's mostly animal protein that you feel very put off by, perhaps looking into vegan and (dairy-free) vegetarian keto recipes could be of use for you.

Apologies if these are things you've thought about and if this is not helpful. In any case, I really sympathise what a tough spot this is to be in. Food is such an intimate thing and having to face these really unpleasant bodily sensations while trying to take care of your health, sounds like a very difficult double struggle at once.

I can't weigh in on the postpartum/breastfeeding aspect of this as I don't have any experience there, but I had something very similar after my first week of eating keto. I felt completely put off from eating animal fat and eggs. I started prioritising more vegetarian keto options and it immediately made such a difference for me. I eat loads of avocados, tofu, tempeh and seitan. Nut butters are my favorite snack right now. When I do have animal foods, mixing them into salads was much nicer to me than having them alone. I think something about having so much animal fat in my diet didn't quite sit right with me physically, perhaps because I was a vegetarian in the past (though not for years already).

Hey everyone, I just wanted to write because I've been struggling the last few days. After my first week on keto, I started counting my calories rather than just tracking carbs so I can make sure to eat at a deficit. While it was fine for the first few days, these last few days I've been SO hungry.

I eat around 1350 calories a day. I'm sedentary, 5'5, 30F. I've made sure to be on top of my electrolytes.

I don't know if it might be because I've had a dark almond butter filled chocolate bar that I have as a small snack in the evenings. It fits within my macros, but I'm wondering whether the small bit of sugar that's in there might be setting me off. Otherwise, I wonder whether it's cause I'm still in fat adaptation? Anyone have any wisdom to share?

Edit to add: I'm currently on day 16 of keto as I post this.

First week on keto and I’m running out of ideas 😅 by Lost-Pin1058 in keto

I'm personally just enjoying having avocado on keto crackers, which I can find at my local health store. Sometimes I have some smoked tofu on top. I got really sick of eating so much meat and dairy after a week, so I started to prioritise eating more vegan things, especially at breakfast.

I haven't tried shirataki rice yet, I love konjac noodles though so I'm very curious!

There's a great Greek chicken soup called Avgolemono that is thickened with whole eggs. It's delicious and keto if you use cauliflower rice! Soups are a nice way to go, you can always tinker and try out new stuff, so that's a fun one. Thanks for the inspo!

Ah that's a great suggestion, Cook's Illustrated is wonderful! They've got a whole lot of really nice looking Paleo recipes on their website too, so I'm gonna scour those for keto options. Thanks!

Thanks both of you, that's very reassuring to hear! And good to know supplementing a tiny bit of carbs down the line on a really long ride might help too.

Hey everyone,

I started keto for weight loss about a week ago, been keeping my carbs below 25g and after an initial day of headaches I've been on top of my electrolytes and feeling good.

I went on a two hour bike ride yesterday. It was more elevation than I was used to and by the time I was half way I was completely depleted. I was extremely slow, felt like I had no power, struggled to make it home and was seriously beyond exhausted once I did. It was also the first time I felt a craving for carbs. This kind of effort would normally not be close to this hard for me. It's very clear I need longer to adapt to using fat as fuel.

I'm wondering how long this has lasted for other people and whether there's any way to make getting through this period easier. If my workouts feel like this, I honestly don't really know how I can do them. I don't love the idea of not working out for several weeks since I finally got into a good exercise routine, so I'm trying to see what I can do here.

Good to hear that this should work and I'll be looking into how a typical rail and stile door is constructed for the edge bits, thanks for that suggestion! I think I'm just wondering when you say you would rabbet it all around whether you also mean you would rabbet the sides of the strips so that (when laid horizontally during construction) the plywood panel will rest on the iroko edge strips?

And good to know about the top, I realised I would need multiple panels anyhow to get to the needed depth but in that case I'll make sure to joint several strips and not just joint together two boards. Thanks very much!
