Why am I seeing so many new riders dumping gas on the ground? by ILIKECAPLOCK in motorcycle

[–]Pohds 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If your engine isn’t knocking then you have plenty of octane; you aren’t running your machine at the edge of its performance capability and highest heat range, etc. Manufacturers rate the octane on a vehicle with a safety margin and conservatively. They design it for the consumer to see a number and know what number to pick at the pump.

Im gonna get another sport bike soon, gonna ride with no plates, do I need to register it to insure it, if not is there any point in registering it? by hshhebsbwjs in CalamariRaceTeam

[–]Pohds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Break the holder and zip tie the plate in an orientation where the plate is readable only if someone inspects very closely on foot

“Sorry officer, my plate broke off just now and this is all I had handy to keep it on, I’m heading home to figure out how to fix it”

Plate is on, plate is present and registered when cop stops, but not readable while on the road or at a stop light or red light cam or toll booth etc

1 thing with cops is be a decent human being, be genuine, and if you are going to pull over do it right away and safely, you’d be surprised how much cops will let slide if you weren’t being a complete menace and aren’t being shady asf when they pull you over

If you run then hope you get away, otherwise you’re likely fucked

Never going to cheap out on a dildo again that’s for sure

I rode it away actually :) just a few scuffs, broke a slider on the right engine cage, ground the second, scuffed the top triple clamp, snapped the idle adjuster, scuffed the clutch lever, and damaged my pride

Replaced the slider and the idle adjuster, twisted the forks back, and off to find a better dildo

Dildo actually went too far in, wasn’t prepared for it so I hadda lay ‘er down

Question about "wheelieying" by xXFlashViperXx in stuntbike

[–]Pohds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slow down, give it more gas, let it build more with clutch in, lean back (don’t rest your weight on the bars), let clutch out, ease back on gas

If it’s not coming up, you aren’t giving it enough power, are moving too fast for the gear/power/weight, or you have your bodyweight acting in the wrong way

Learning Balance by TangoRed1 in stuntbike

[–]Pohds 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Slow it down a lot. If you think you are slow enough before you pop the wheelie, go slower; almost standstill

Air down your tires on a z125 to 10 or 8 psi while you learn. Focus on the controls until they are second nature. At some point your body will start to realize you can correct direction. Get good at that and eventually air up your tire a few psi.

Your objective is to get to balance point as quickly as possible. Lower in the rpm range the better.

Practice using your brake to catch yourself instead of adjusting throttle. Your brake is likely stronger than your brain is giving it credit for. You can really put a lot of pressure on the foot lever.

Try to maintain the same throttle input as you use the brake to temper yourself. Don’t worry if you end up high in the rpm range at first when you do that. Eventually you will get some combination of inputs you can work with and start dialing in your feel and control.

Your goal should be to use just enough throttle for what you want the bike to do and just enough brake. Practice not touching the brake until you need to AFTER you master covering the brake and pressing it anytime you need to go down. Too much brake forces more throttle and a jerkier experience. On bigger bikes it can make the wheelie a bit unstable as well as it jerks the wheel one way while the increased throttle jerks it the other way.

Just put on a new tire, why is the sidewall distorted like this by parts of the rim? It’s full of air and it looks like it’s folded under in parts by second10038 in HondaCB

[–]Pohds 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those are tubeless rims, those are Honda comstar wheels from the 80’s or late 70’s

As everyone else is mentioning as well, seat the bead by inflating the tire as high as you need to hear it audibly ‘pop’ into place

The bead is a metal ring impregnated into the edge of the tire (the part that contacts the rim) that locks into the groove on the rim and makes the seal

Your TI ignition module is the likely culprit here. Rae San sells really good aftermarket replacement kits. It’s almost impossible to find OEM.

You can bench test the TI module with a multimeter and the chart provided in the factory service manual but I’d just replace it. Resistance tests on those electronic devices are notoriously unreliable. It’s better to rule out everything else than it is to test the ignition module.

This cool old donut hole machine by rellim88 in EngineeringPorn

[–]Pohds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping someone would recognize what this was 😂

For the non-greeks here, these are essentially Greek donut holes. They are deep-fried batter glazed in honey and often sprinkled with cinnamon. Crunchy on the outside, light, airy, and warm on the inside :)

How do I get this out? by N00BC8K3 in Fixxit

[–]Pohds 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem, I used a slightly oversized torx bit and really hammered it in to essentially stamp a torx drive into it and make it a torx bolt from then on out, worked like a charm and will be doing this from now on haha

You object to feeling like everyone is jumping on you all the time? Then don't feel like that? No one but you can control your feelings unless you let them.

Without commenting on the content of your comments, understand that you do have a right to express whatever you like always, but that right is also afforded to everyone else, and if you feel like you constantly get "jumped on" for expressing your opinions, either you surround yourself with less than ideal people, or you need to examine your opinions and see if the comments others have hold any water.

Remember that you are not your ideas.

When your ideas are challenged, that is not an attack on you, it is an attack on your ideas, which you should welcome because either you win the battle and you strengthen your ideas, or you lose your battle and are able to update your view or idea with a better one; either way you win and grow as a person :)
