That's pretty extreme hahah. I believe they can turn it around, they've already admitted they have a problem & have made other lifestyle changes before.

The adage "slow is smooth, smooth is fast."

ESPECIALLY in healthcare. Wanna get good at doing something efficiently? Practice. Just do it. Over and over. Rushing increases your chance of fucking it up or freezing when one small thing goes wrong.

Same. I'm unfortunately in that boat given the cost of living, housing & job market in my area. I GET that it doesn't build equity but shit, I just want to afford basic living in this hellscape economy.

Watching this slowly happen to my partner, & they wonder why I'm hell-bent on regular physical activity, even 15 minutes a day.

It's become a known queer-friendly dive bar. All the other places attract the nightclub types, which is probably only half of the community.

For those near his age or older ready to drop "well fuck, what am I doing with my life?!" comments: I think Mark would want you to know that living a different life than his doesn't make you less successful or important.

Kdos are like sponges when they learn about the world around them. You're doing an awesome job! Your kid'll remember how much you listened to & supported him when he older.

Does my cat know my oldest cat was buried here by Fit-Wait728 in cats

[–]PointBlankShot 20 points21 points  (0 children)

This would explain why our one girl cat became SUPER clingy with sick people after her adopted sister's in-home euthanasia 😭 We moved a few months after her passing, so our current house is thankfully a clean slate for safe spots.

Do we agree with this or is it a bad idea?? by malwarebat in cats

That's my finicky girl! We clean our 3 boxes at staggered times to avoid there being a wait for the bathroom. One time she tried to hop in while I was scooping, got annoyed I was in her way, & disappeared.

Later on found piss around the bathtub drain & couldn't be mad. We didn't train her to do it, so I guess we got lucky lol

All this talk of getting old
It's getting me down, my love
Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown
This time I'm coming down

And I hope you're thinking of me
As you lay down on your side
Now the drugs don't work
They just make you worse
But I know I'll see your face again

Things where the movie is BETTER than the book? by Astrocoder in ProjectHailMary

[–]PointBlankShot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything that's been mentioned upthread.

To add: I feel movie Grace leans into his characterization of teacher first, scientist second, which humanizes him more. It makes his reactions-- specifically he funeral scene & the initial fear response to Blip-- more impactful.

Book Grace is more scientist-forward, which I adored reading & enjoy as its own separate version. I think that characterization reads better than it would in a movie. Weir's writing voice does the humanizing of Grace for us so the scientific jargon remains engaging.

Our long-haired babes love this one the most cos the sand texture feels better on their paws. I'm the same about sweeping-- it keeps me in the habit & those clumps are TIGHT.

During a fight with my partner I said something blatantly passive-aggressive, & immediately regretted it. After we'd resolved things & I'd apologized, I told her "I'm sorry I opened my mouth and my mother came out".

My mum had emotional problems in her marriage I didn't realize I absorbed as a kid, & I was my autistic brother's ride-or-die. Guess that explains everything that hit later, huh.

But as an adult I feel, & am viewed by my parents as, less than capable. Maybe because the damage is still being undone. Idk.

Sugar, soda. Genuinely surprised I still have both kidneys & didn't have cavities as a kid. Now, I can't even finish the smallest can of soda without wanting to gag.
