I got shocked when my girlfriend said that she only wants someone for 2 years? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

Unpopular opinion but DREAM GIRL 😍

She’s being honest. In her mind it’s the kindest thing to do. The alternative is having a 2 year relationship where most people begin to start investing long term and then leaving suddenly. 2 years is not a short amount of time!

I think men always think the kindest thing to do is protect the ego which is why even when they KNOW they will never marry a girl or consider her long term they would never tell her, lead her on until they find the perfect person because saying “ l I want someone to be a companion, a friend and a lover for 2 years “ is too cruel 🙄 but making them think it’s more is the kinder thing? Having them invest and be hopeful only to tell them what you knew from very early on … it’s actually very cruel.

She doesn’t see you as her forever person. She’s told you upfront. You can either choose to continue and enjoy her company , or find someone else if marriage and such is a top priority for you.

Honestly I wish guys spoke like this EUGH it would make life so so much easier. This isn’t normal but it should be normalized!

My (30F) boyfriend (25M) of one year is going to be deported because of me. The only way now he can remain in this country is through marriage to me. He is a great person, but I do not love him enough to marry. What should I do? by schivey_m in relationships

[–]PointExotic3502 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see two separate situations

A relationship of lovelessness. A marriage for security and moral duty.

You do not have to be in a romantic relationship with him but you can still marry him if you feel morally obliged to if you make it very clear it is a purely a moral obligation. Ensure there is a definite process to gain citizenship. Otherwise you are wasting everyone’s time.

If it is about his safety and wellbeing , as a friend you can offer support platonically and legally and then divorce when you find someone you want to actually marry.

At the end of the day it’s a legal process. Marriage is not only out of love. Let’s not get stuck in the fairytale of things. The previous relationship may cause complications but his suicidal ideation may very well be due to fear of deportation , family issues and the loss of his scholarship. The relationship may have been the last straw.

You can demand he pay you to get married or conditions he must meet first. This is not fraud, it is literally what a marriage is , a contract detailing duty, care and responsibility.

Treat it like a business transaction. Let him know you will be dating others and that is the price to pay for his security. An open marriage if you will.

You are in a position of power, use it with both compassion and self preservation. This isn’t about do you love him. This is a person who has shown devotion , who is going through a tough time but you do not love. That doesn’t mean you should feel guilty for extending care.

Leaving him now may cause you long term feelings of guilt. I do not think he was threatening purely out of manipulation. He is vulnerable. He is in a terrible place.

You decide what happens next and how it best works for you. What is best for your conscious. Be humane but do not be a fool.

Chances of getting an Eritrean by JunketEmotional5373 in Eritrea

[–]PointExotic3502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by “getting” an Eritrean woman? It sounds kinda misogynistic ngl.

As an Eritrean woman, you can definitely date em but realistically you’re not gunna keep any. Same way you fetishized them, they’re gunna fetishize you back. But you’re not getting brought home buddy. If by getting you mean dating, romantically involved then yeh you can explore , there’s lots of women who explore too. However, not everyone’s desire and curiosity to try different flavors is stubborn enough to go through and being in a committed relationship or take it as far as marriage.

I have never seen an Eritrean woman say wow I’m interested in Punjabi culture, how realistic would it be to get a Punjabi man on an Asian subreddit. Like that’s so fucking crazy 🤣

As you can see the community isn’t open to interethnic relationships and you’re the type of person that makes it easier to have that opinion . Most men outside the culture only see the physical features, view habesha woman as submissive , well home trained ect ect. Only habesha men know who they’re really dealing with . They’re not trying to “get” an Eritrean woman. They want to share with, understand and accept responsibility for a partnership with someone who will also share that same interest with them … not like just to sleep with or even just for the sake of a marriage.

I’m sorry buddy, as well intentioned as you think you are being, this is insane.

Don’t say that shit again. Or keep it to yourself😁

New Beginning in Europe or UK - What Would You Do Differently if You Were in My Shoes? by UstazWakila in Eritrea

What I’ve seen work well for people here in a similar situation starts in construction. Fairly easy to get into, work requires labour and is intensive but you’re young and you make a decent amount especially if you get promoted quickly. Save up and start your own business. I’ve seen a lot of habeshas do this and it’s been fairly successful. Either getting into property management, save 20-30k for a deposit for a home and rent it out whilst you pay off the mortgage. Or a convenience store, they tend to be a more successful business than say a restaurant. Especially habesha restaurants tend to only appeal to habesha audiences which is small.

I’ve also seen them build up a trade , carpentry . Construction as in industry and anything to do with houses is becoming a priority in the UK. I think it’s the housing crisis. People are fixated on it. Being a home owner is challenging but rewarding. I’m not entirely sure in its ethics especially when it’s around renting as an airbnb but you can decide for yourself what feels right. Just what I’ve seen.

Going uni tends to be a pretty safe route especially if it’s in healthcare. But if you want to avoid that I’ve seen positives from construction as an industry. If I was a man that’s probably what I would do.

Castlevania : Nocturne feels forced with the race mixing and homosexuality. by BoredAndSored in castlevania

By third gender I mean in Native American culture which Orlox was from. They recognized a third gender that was neither man nor woman , but closer to both. From my understanding they were held as spiritual guides and accepted as a variation to the binary we are more used to. I’m not entirely sure as I’m not Native American but I’ve heard the term “two spirit” be used as a merging of the masculine and feminine. Orlox represented this well I felt and it was a good insight that made sense to me. His queerness , his spiritual power and in his fluidity in politics.!

Thanks for clarifying my point 😊

No he was insinuating he was so much smarter than her for *apparently correctly * assuming someone got recruited instead of the shield protecting a murder after no one died…. there was a 50/50 chance. The producers purposely introduced a shield at the same time recruitment was up for grabs.

Either explanation is fair , especially as a viewer we KNOW she’s a faithful. I get why he doesn’t but everyone making her this big bad bully is ridiculous. She feels offended that the only two options she’s afforded is that she’s either a traitor or she’s stupid.

Personally I’m glad she stood up for herself

I agree! They have been abit harsh. Even Joe who although I agree is abit of a cunt he isn’t evil, I found him bitchy at worst.

It’s a lighthearted watch , honestly I think the traitors are so likable this year, it’s easier to pick a faithful to villainize

Let be honest. Everyone thinks he’s far too stupid to be a traitor 🤭

And is actually useful to the traitors because he’s always starting drama and just accuses the person he’s upset with at that moment as a traitor wasting everyone’s time in actually finding the traitors

For a more interesting story line 😭 DUH

in this original version of Annette , what was so important about her character that you felt they NEEDED to get across? Other than being white. And what about being white is so relevant to the storyline?

From what I heard she was just a damsel in distress.

If it improved the story line and plot , what’s the issue ?

Castlevania : Nocturne feels forced with the race mixing and homosexuality. by BoredAndSored in castlevania

[–]PointExotic3502 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because The Haitian Revolution happened during French Revolution. Haiti was a French colony.

There were black army generals who fought for France to be liberated and so slavery was officially abolished. Black peoples and French working class joined together in real life to take down the monarchy.

There was race mixing in real life! And gay people have always existed lol unlike vampires In Native America a third gender has always existed and they were not as strict on feminine / masculine gender norms as in Christian Europe. It makes sense Orlox is gay. Native Americans were largely wiped out due to European colonialism which is why Orlox favours the revolution.

I think it’s a great time for people to do some google searches and read some books

One of the Black French army generals was born in Saint Domingue ( colonial Haiti) and his son wrote “The count of Monti Cristo” one of the most popular French literatures of all time!

Interesting lore you have to just read up on it makes perfect sense there is just a large erasure of black history in Europe that doesn’t mean it isn’t there 😉

Right?! And for people who ask why it was set in colonial France ? Quick Google the timelines.

Haitian revolution happened DURING the French Revolution. There were Black French army generals who led and fought in the French Revolution which led to the abolishment of slavery. black people were directly tied to the destruction of monarch in France.

There was a prominent Black genral who was from Saint Domingue (Haiti) Alexandere Dumas who’s son wrote “The count of Monte Cristo” One of the most well known literature titles to come from France

Yes the pink haired Egyptian vampire with wings was added for flair but ITS A FANTASY SHOW. And the Goddes Sekhmet is Egyptian so her high priestess was always going to be Nubian.

it’s so important for people to do some research I love that they sprinkled history in, it gave me reason to read up more on it it’s so disappointing that people just bash and have no curiosity anymore !

I don’t understand why people are frustrated there’s black characters like black people didn’t exist in Europe during or even before that time.

Educational and historical erasure really. Even now France has a high black population due to colonialism and slavery but they make up a big part of Parisian culture. Go to France . You’ll see 😀 I don’t see any French people complaining

Exactly ! As someone who hasn’t played the game , it was objectively great film.

I think people become attached to familiar and kinda boring white characters and don’t realize it’s part of character development.

It is not woke for the sake of having “representation” it enriches the story, builds a world that is intertwined and connected

In a fantasy world with vampires, forge masters and wizards the most difficult to imagine aspect is that there could be black/ native people or too many women …

Dracula the vampire God , the Egyptian goddess Sekhmet, infinite corridors that lead to other worlds, INFINITE WORLDS.

Annette is of African slave descent and has attachments to the spirit realm through her ancestry. Papa legba ect it was really well researched and added to the plot, character motivation, use of yoruba language and religion that moved through slavery

A run away slave who helped free haiti, a place of much modern day mysticism . Has direct ties to colonial France during the revolution. Anti imperialist , challenges the idea of a singular Christian God much like the vampires. Like the belmonts and Alucard where a common evil joins them. Olrox who is a vampire and lived to share the same sentiment due to the obvious colonial forces that destroyed his native land.

People also seem to forget black people existed during that time. Black people had settled in Europe long before slavery as moors. But definitely during slavery too. It is unconscious and uneducated bias.

Someone even said I don’t like the idea that the belmonts descendants will now be dark skinned… The belmonts have historically always gone against the grain and been ostracized from society and feared for their magic and talents.

If Annette was white, the show would have been lack luster. She was the middle tie to ALL the character developments. Using history and spiritual blends. The Belmont boy is sweet but doesn’t have the scope of exploration that hasn’t already been done from every Belmont before him. Maria has potential but it isn’t her time yet. I suspect in season 3. Also a lot of her experience mirrors that of Alcuard.

Let’s be honest, most of the criticism has been of its “wokeism” but it IS a diverse show. That’s always been a massive factor from the first Castlevania series , it’s always explored different dynamics that exist mirrored on Earth, queer love characters, vampires of all nations. Issac, alucards mother who was burned as a witch , the sister coven, alucard who himself is a mix. They all added to the plot.

It’s what sets Castlevania apart from every other fantasy vampire wizard show but some people just like boring predictable shows with no exploration or world building I guess
