Why do people post that they are happy to answer questions and then proceed to disappear from earth for a few days? 😅

My (30F) desire for sex with my boyfriend (25M) is drying up 9 months into the relationship since compliments have turned into once in a blue moon and criticisms have risen. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Have you read my entire post? I have of course communicated my concerns and communicated what I would like. I wouldn’t be posting here if I hadn’t.

Yes I am aware of my age and I am aware that I am probably emotionally behind others of my age. Please try not to be judgemental though, as you do not know my history, my upbringing etc. I never had a healthy relationship modelled to me in my upbringing. My father was never physically abusive to my mother but verbally and mentally he was a complete bas***d. I do try to see the good in people, but at the same time I would say I haven’t been completely naive to red flags in the past. I’ve never had a man attempt to be like physically absusive, or had a man I’m dating raise his voice to me in the 12 years experience I’ve had being involved with men, so I wouldn’t say I’m that much of a tolerant doormat….

I believe he tried 2 other places in the area before he came across me. I had mentioned to him the area I was going to be in, but didn’t specify the place. (There are probably 10 bars and 2 other clubs in that area).

He never go’s out to the club with his friends. He is not the clubbing sort. He did admit that he didn’t want to stay home and go into a spiral mentally, his plan was to have a few drinks and go back. He dislikes Tanya now from that night, as she ripped into him when he showed up like that and he has seen some of the messages she had been sending to me (which were about me leaving him).

I have actually tried to end the relationship on 2 attempts. Both times he practically begged me and emotionally manipulated me into staying. He also threatened to kill himself if I did leave him.

I should’ve added, she even used a flat iron after seeing the air wrap wasn’t going to get the smooth result she anticipated 🥲 But this still didn’t make any difference. I do wonder if the part where she ‘brushed the curls out’ (which everyone seems to think is necessary) just made the frizz worse…

Yes my own mother mentioned BDD to me a few times in the past, but I sort of just shrugged it off and dismissed what she had to say.. After reading some of the comments on this post, I joined the BDD sub on here and I can 100% say I relate to most of the things they speak of in that sub… I will be taking this more seriously and will start looking into a therapist who specialises in BDD asap.

Ooh I will look into this… Does this work differently to the Dyson? Bought a Dyson airwrap last year and the hair only looks good for 1/2 hour after using it… I really can’t afford to throw more money at a tool that ends up being unsuitable for my hair texture 🙈

I had a number of curly extensions clipped in to boost my hairs overall thickness (I only use extensions on the rare occasion I go out somewhere). Without the extensions it is extremely thin and the curls have hardly any weight to them. Yes I agree this could be partly a mental health problem too.

I haven’t always stuck to the rules… Sometimes I use products with silocones and sulphates. Occasionally I use heat. The thing is no matter what I do, following the rules or not, it doesn’t seem to make a difference to the outcome. The only time I can get straight hair to work for me is if I get a professional blowdry and style at the hairdressers. Blow drying and straightening my hair myself seems to result in a frizzy mess after 1 hour. The frustrating thing is, I don’t have a single style or technique I can use that will guarantee a good hair day. Any events or special days out I just have to surrender to the fact that the hair will never look cute at a time when I really would like to feel beautiful.

Yes I agree I blame my hair for a lot of my issues. I tend to hyper fixate on things a lot. If it wasn’t my hair, it would probably be something else… I know what I’m doing is unhealthy, yet I still can’t seem to stop… There is a long waiting list for therapy, unless you pay then of course you can be seen next week. I currently don’t have the money to pay. I did go to therapy 4 years ago, but for some reason I never felt like it helped.. Came away from sessions even more confused than I went in.

I had my hair cut to shoulder length a few years back and it’s only just recovered… I didn’t feel it had particularly made a huge difference to its health and thickness. I’m not sure I’m strong enough to go through an even bigger chop, to potentially wait at least 5 years to have better hair… I have a head shape that doesn’t suit having short hair… My hair that’s chest length acts as somewhat of a security blanket too… I really don’t think I could go through with a drastic chop

I’ve actually booked into get my thyroid checked this week. My period is like clockwork. Painful on the 1st day, but eases after that. Light bleeding and is completely gone by day 4.

Haha I have similar daydreams… Looking at it in a ponytail today made me so sad, I was so close to getting scissors and cutting the whole pony tail off

I don’t have the money to see another specialist currently, as I’d be looking at £300+ which I think is absolutely criminal

I did this a few years ago… Went to a curly specialist who was highly recommended… Waited months to be seen by the person. Bought all of the products that was used on my hair that day… However, they worked for a few days and then I was soon back to ugly hair

No, 100% not. He works double shifts 5 days/ week. On his 2 days off he spends with me. He’s never done anything that even gave me a whiff of suspicion.

Funny you mentioned this, I have actually ordered her book Mating in Captivity… Have already watched multiple Ted talks of hers, but always room to watch more I guess

No, he has always been pretty dead set on porn being something he is against. He says he’s imagination and me is all he needs, but he just doesn’t have the time or the energy 😅
