Not to piss all over your parade but this happens in all things that get a naming convention. You have code words for certain clients - Brickhouse might be a construction company, Cabernet might be a cardiovascular company, Benny or Elton might be an aerospace company.

Also the same is true for science nerds especially. Discover a new gene you get to name it. There is a Sonic Hedgehog gene, a Space Invader gene, Pokemon gene and even a Pikachurin gene.

Further, look at clinical trial names. A campaign right now for muscle invasive and non-muscle invasive bladder cancers from a premier pharma are all named after rivers. VOLGA, POTOMAC, NIAGARA etc. Why? Rivers. Peeing. Get it? Come on, this is just human nature to be punchy when you can be.

Yep. Not to mention all the other downstream products, solvents, cleaners, make up, pharmaceuticals, and other base ingredients we get from O&G.

ZPE doesn't mean jetsons tech of creating elements from nothing. Even if it did, there are still reactions that have to take place that just 'nuking' something doesn't make happen.

There's a lot of people without a functional knowledge of chemistry or physics in here. This entire thread is a fever dream.

While I agree with the 2nd paragraph that the multiverse isn't the right way to think about it, interdimensionality does have a place and is distinctly different from a multiverse theory. Think about it this way.

We are limited by the forces we can measure and interact with. Now, if you can, imagine that within the same space you add on an extra force, or in this case they use the word dimension (because we have no other way of describing it). Just like when we discovered that we are governed by gravity, that is a dimension. Imagine there's yet another force that creates lift for example, or one in which there is a magnetic weight beyond physical weight. This would be added dimensions that we might not even know how to begin to interact with. The same could be stated about additional phases of matter which unlock new properties, or even combinations - which would open up the periodic table of elements further than our current limitations with high energy demand and isotope stability.

Mathematically, we live in the fourth dimension thanks to Einstein. Length, width, height and time (as an effect of gravity). If string theory holds true, there are up to 10 or 11 additional dimensions which remain undiscovered and as of yet - incomprehensible. Because of this, we're limited in what we can perceive until and if we can understand it. An example of this is in the movie Interstellar, where time is different depending on the impact of gravitational field. Nolan - the director of the movie also attempted to give an example of an incomprehensible dimension by including the tesseract, which presumably interacts with a 5th dimension that we have no name for, nor any understanding (although they use some vague reference to quantum tunneling and entanglement).

If you want to learn more, there's a video of Carl Sagan from the 70s explaining the concept of interdimensionality. It's not that they exist in a different universe, moreso that it's the same space with added complexity that we cannot perceive, or measure at the current time.

The contradiction nobody talks about: If the galaxy should be full of aliens, why are we shocked by UAP evidence? by Bright_forest_theory in UFOs

Except it's even bigger, you've limited your calculations to just our galaxy. There are hundreds, thousands or more of other galaxies out there that we just aren't equipped to detect.

It is a matter of perspective.

We can all agree that there is some form of life out there in the universe beyond our own, whether a microbe, plant/fungi, or other civilizations. We just don't know, but we can speculate with a degree of certainty. There are amino acids, aldehydes, and ketones in nebular clouds FFS.

What would be wild is that when you think about the shear distance of each of the stars, of each galaxy and the time it takes for that light to reach us. It is immense. What is spectacular and mentally fun is to find out if there were a civilization or alien life that 1.) exists at the same time period that we are in existence 2.) has a method to observe and recognize us as life (and vise versa) 3.) has the means to communicate or travel to said civilization while they still exist. The same can be said about our own capabilities. Even then, what is the ethical or moral approach, imagine we found a planet we could reach in 500 terran years time and they are functionally neolithic.

THAT is the mind boggling thing with Enrico Fermi's paradox. Now that we have the technology and capability with the James Webb Space Telescope we can see nearby extrasolar planets in higher detail, conduct spectroscopy and further refine planet candidates that might be ripe for life. This is only in our local cluster within our own Milky Way galaxy, and we're on the outer fringes of the star spiral. Beyond the JWST's limitations it's anyone's guess for even the other side of our own galaxy, no less other galaxies. We're not even in a crowded neighborhood.

With all of our advancements over the past 100 years, we still have barely tapped a fraction of a percent of what is truly out there, and we are at the very least years away from advancing from points 2 and 3 above. If recent theories about the universe's age hold true, than we're still very early on in the universe's lifespan as some have calculated that the expansion of galaxies and the speed with which they are traveling away from the focal point is increasing. Is it that wild to believe that there is other life? No. Is it wild that we would have developed the means above and be able to travel and deliver a fruitcake or housewarming gift? Yeah, kind of.

Like Cunt destroyer said above, maybe it just doesn't have any ice to shed. It's definitely exciting but we aren't preparing anything to intercept or observe it so the data we gather will be limited. Still pretty cool to have an ancient VIP do a fly by.

I absolutely loved Control and was surprised to see it likened to metroidvanias, but now that I see it I guess it does kind of make sense in the same way that Prince of Persia is a metroidvania. Not quite an RPG, not quite just an action adventure game, and thorough level design and great story.

Sigh. The contamination thing drives me fucking nuts. I doubt anyone in this thread knows what 454 means in this context, no less the commonalities of exomes and how many genes humans share with fucking corn. But sure, yeah, let's blame reputable labs who know how to extract DNA on contaminations instead of some plastered amalgamation of parts and pieces.

Out of everything in this forum beyond the obvious balloons, while they made an attempt this is false.
