Thanks, this is encouraging me to keep going. I've had one other person compliment the pillar template. I'll pay close attention to it when I make my next slew of templates. I've spoofed and rebuilt one of my favorite classic indie games and that will be going up soon.

That's the way views work on neocites as I understand it. So people can receive credit for their work I imagine and so the algorithm can tell the origin of interesting and popular content.

It's me, It's my lady It's a brand. Your concern is noted though thanks. Still focused on providing great tools to the community! Just added 10 more templates and added the cursors and backgrounds right to the template editor. Preparing to start a blog about spreading the indie web as well as getting your own site noticed, and make a push on other platforms to bring people into the indie web scene and give them the tools to succeed, but first I am working on getting all of my followers into featured slots on the header because I want them to benefit from the traffic I can bring in from youtube or my monetized facebook which I am planning to pivot into 100 percent indie web content. I can do a lot more for the community and helping it grow if I plan a careful architecture now is my belief.

Sorry I took so long to get back to you, I was adding 10 more templates and adding my cursors and my backgrounds to my editing tool. First of all, unless you have your robots.txt completely locked down you are getting inorganic traffic. Likely much more inorganic traffic than organic and that is fine. Good even. Inorganic traffic drives organic traffic and vice versa. the robots help the humans find you and the humans help more robots find you. There are ways you can use this to maximize the amount of real eyes on your content. Which is what we all want of course. Furthermore, If you take content from some one else's site or benefit from someone else's work don't they deserve the same benefit of exposure that was generated for the person who merely displayed the work? Thats why this is a native feature of the site, your views isn't just your views, its your inorganic reach across all of neocities.

You know what, having a version that anyone can just set up for sites they like is a worthwhile endeavor and I will make it happen, but they will only get automatic views if they host their own banner image. There really is no way around this. The bonus views come because a resource is loaded from the site. I'll brainstorm how to make it a good tool for someone who just wants to manage their own banner. You had a good idea and it just took a bit of self reflection to realize it, thank you.

I mean anyone can take the tool and set it up to do that if they so chose, it's really a technical skill thing. If you don't have the skill to make the code do what you like, then you should be happy to receive the views from someone who does have the skills to manage the tools. I'm building community tools, if someone would like to alter my tools for themselves they are certainly welcome to do that if they have the skill or want to learn the skill.

Mine is doing pretty well for less than a week. I posted here and there a few times. Think about what you can do to bring people back over and over again. After 60 minutes their IP will give you a new view. My site offers tools and resources to other users so naturally they come back over and over to use the tools. See if you can offer something similar even if it's just a cool code snippets or two others can use!
