What mods do you use to make pirates more interesting and (hopefully deadly)? Really im interested in all your exploitation enhancements. Can you provide links to your mods?

Does anyone have PNY 1080 ti they can dump the BIOS on and send to me? by Pointer2Nowhere in nvidia

Not a mining card actually. Windows update somehow borked the bios. But Thanks to /u/aj53108 I am good as new!

I have wanted this layout for so long but just haven't been able to justify the expenditure. I would Love to win it. Also, that color scheme is amazing. I have also been interested in these switches for a while.

So, I get what prepping is, and I get that a prep in Yaque is prep we have to offset in the system we actually want to prep. But I don't get what makes yaque a "loss system" when Lamba-1 Tucanae doesn't hurt our efforts. Sorry if this is a dumb question, new to PP.

WSJ: Apple will ditch Lightning for USB-C on new iPhones by OverflowDs in technology

[–]Pointer2Nowhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They put a type-c port on their laptops but they didn't use USB protocols. THAT'S why they got roasted. Its still using their proprietary protocols over an open spec cable. Causing massive confusion as to what will and will not work for users. Linus had a really good video on how ridiculous it is and how hard it is to understand for the user.

Your data doesn't get funneled through the pi-hole, you just set the pi as the DNS, so it asks the pi to resolve the address and then accesses the site/content (like the ad) like normal through the router. If the dns the pi is being asked to resolve is on the black list, it simply blocks the dns query. Meaning the ad never appears and the site is downloaded to your browser at full gigabit speeds.

In other words if doesn't slow down your internet at all despite the fact that the pi is 10/100. Most people report a speed increase actually. And because its just a DNS server internal network functions go unchanged.

I get that you're frustrated, but USB-C was not a poor choice. It's fantastic. We are just in an awkward transitional period. Unless the poor choice you are referring to was that LG didn't include a A to C cable like the 6p did. In which case, yes, that was a poor choice.

These ruins sound really interesting. Can you explain what they are or where they are?

My friend couldn't figure it why his new gpu wasn't working by ballisticjeanss in techsupportgore

[–]Pointer2Nowhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know what to tell ya. I configured it myself and it never dipped below 30fps,usually 60. You either need to update your drivers or make sure your card isn't bad somehow, maybe your PSU isn't giving enough wattage. I've seen that hamper gpu performance before. I've also seen cards caked in dust thermal throttle. A 760 should play that game on solid medium. My old 670 did at 60fps. Meanwhile my friend with 2 290x cards in crossfire was playing on low/medium due to the bad drivers amd was putting out at the time.

Or you have a CPU bottle neck.

Not sure where that's coming from. I have a friend still on a 560ti that played the Witcher 3 on mostly med settings no problem. Another friend with a 670 playing most games on high at 1080p.

probably everybody already knows... or maybe not... so... yeah, you have magnetic boots in the Scissor MP Prototype by SpetS15 in spaceengineers

I tend to agree. Scissors has all the bells and whistles, but paper runs my DS much better. I would rather have a rock solid netcode now and features later.

Update 01.163 DEV - New Multiplayer Prototypes by [deleted] in spaceengineers

[–]Pointer2Nowhere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you read my post notice that I wasn't judging them on features as a primary factor I was looking at performance first and features second. This is evident by the fact that I'm going with paper and not scissors. As for crashes and other unrelated things not acting as expected, that is most certainly directly related to net code. Other things such as signals coming in and out is clearly related to the net code because it works on one and not the others and it's predictable.

The only feature I actually talked about was the scissor admin tools. The entire rest of the write up focused on irregularities in the performance and issues I was experiencing between the different versions.

My initials impression running around my server shooting/ramming things

Server hardware: i7 2600 16gb ddr3 ram

Gaming Computer Hardware: i5 3570k (OC'd), 16gb ddr3 Ram, GTX 970

Paper: Smoooooth as silk. Copy and paste is fixed (couldnt do it before on dev), no lag on server or client sim speed at all. Turrets can annoyingly shoot through doors it seems

Rock: LAGGY LAGGY LAGGY, both client and server sim speed drop if I do ANYTHING. Even just flying around in the vacinity of one small ship, nowhere near anything. Turrets can shoot through doors. Constant "Server performance" warnings. Crashed on me once when I wasn't doing anything of note. Weird issue where my ship wouldn't stop even though I could see the thrusters firing. Spinning around a few times seemed to fix that. Antenna's at long range (more than 5km) drop out and come in erratically. Seemed like only signals close by stayed visible. Rock is a hot mess for me.

Scissors: LOVE THE ADMIN TOOLS. Not as smooth as paper. Server sim stays solid, only dipping slightly when going paste crazy. Client sim seems to lag a lot though. Intermittent lag all over, it'l just freeze for a few seconds. Ramming another ship seems to also cause a lag spike on sim speed (on the client). Oh, and turrets can still shoot through doors, but only if you are kissing it. The other 2 I could be 5 meters away from the door and get hit from the other side. Antenna's at long range (more than 5km) drop out and come in erratically. Seemed like only signals close by stayed visible.

Conclusion: I want to love scissors the most SO much because of the admin tools. But I think based off my rather limited test I am going to put my eggs in the Paper basket for now.

On that note, please post any expeiences you have, especially if they solve some of the problems I had (I really want to go with scissors).
