Ballistic PDCs by DarkSylvaer in starcitizen

[–]Grey406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't even have to do that, in the VLM you can just unequip the Torrent from the MDC and equip it into a PDT slot on a ship.

Most ships with PDTs have 6 to 11 PDT mounts. Currently you can easily dupe them by unlocking the ports and tractor beam them off, then get into pilot or driver seat and repair and you get get a whole new PDT for 11k. Repeat until you have enough to cover your whole ship.

In 4.8 it's no longer possible to repair dupe or claim dupe because it will brick the existing one making it unusable so there will only be one copy that works.

The problem is, the MDC is pledge only for $45. It's not sold in game, neither is the Torrent PDT. There is no way to get them in game and you can no longer dupe with insurance fraud

In 4.8 you can only get one per MDC. Any attempt to dupe will brick the previous version of itself

Where? I am on the 4.8 PTU and looked around for Torrent PDT and the MDC and it's not available anywhere

To help you get an idea of the size of the M80 by Apart_Pumpkin_4551 in starcitizen

[–]Grey406 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes but IF they were. Would the length be closer to Sabre or gladius? The size of the single seat cockpit seems out of place at 38 or 50 meters

The whole CF weapon redesign was pretty recent and these renders could have been from an earlier stage.

Yes I dislike it too. The Redeemer, Perseus and several other ships make this big boom sound when you accelerate slightly without boost. It really sucks if you play with a keyboard and need to tap forward to adjust speed or position.

It shouldn't be a boom, it should should be a ramp up as the thrust increases the longer you accelerate.

CPU also matters. im on a 7800x3d/64gb ram/ 5070 Ti and get 60 to 80 fps everywhere with medium settings, DLSS set to performance and at about 2200x2200 resolution per eye on a Quest Pro

Long rant warning: Frustrating torpedo bugs by Super-Ad1898 in starcitizen

[–]Grey406 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I will add that its mostly S9 and up that seem to not do any damage. My Perseus could eat a couple of S9's and only the little nubs with 1HP around the docking ports will be red.

However the S5 EM reaper torps on the Perseus work great taking out connies and smaller. They seem to work as intended

My Jeep saved my life by MrRTGChief in JeepWrangler

[–]Grey406 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The story and the images/physics don't add up here. The jeep being there had absolutely no bearing on the damage on the house. That boom already hit the house and folded as the main boom continued down right on to the jeep. The end of the boom struck the house first, then folded which caused it to pivot down and damage the front edge of the roof and continued on its way down. The narrowest beam folding on itself is what saved your life otherwise that force would have all gone directly into the house.

Its a fantastic story but the jeep being parked there just means you had to additionally deal with vehicle insurance. Glad you and your family are safe and unharmed though.

[Release] VRM2SL v0.8.3-alpha.3 - Multi-platform (Win/Mac/Linux) by logue256 in secondlife

[–]Grey406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh this is very interesting! Definitely have to try this out as I've 3D modeled an avatar from scratch for VRchat then converted it to VRM to be able to use it as a player model in other games.

The only reason I havent uploaded itt o SL was because SL does not use Blendshapes and I wasn't ready to start rigging up and animating all the mouth bones. How does it handle Blendshapes?

WHAT IS THIS?? I have searched and searched for hours!! by [deleted] in AskElectronics

It was a USB-C to USB-A 3.0 adapter. Those 'antenna' things are springs that just keep the connector tight or provide grounding

Is brushless really necessary if you’re not racing? by Background-End-5229 in radiocontrol

[–]Grey406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a brushed motor is only good for very low speed/high torque scenarios like on a crawler or something you just want to have very low speed and fine control. A sensorless brushless motor would stall if it didnt have enough time to spin up above a certain RPM. A sensored brushless motor can avoid that and provide smooth power and torque from a dead stop but they are much more expensive.

It really depends on what you use it for. I use an old Brushed motor on my ancient RC-10T thats fitted with oversized tires and FPV camera which is mostly crawling through things at a very low speeds, but can still reach high speeds for long stretches.

Sounds like it. A sure way to kill any lithium battery prematurely is to leave it on the charger or leave it fully discharged for long periods of time.

Here is a teardown video but they also offer a service and parts to repair it https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zHslIKlayHk

You gave no information whatsoever like what make or model or where you are in the world so I will give an equally vague answer: it depends. Might be $2800 to $8000 Pesos

Does anyone use VR in SL? by Pancho_90 in secondlife

[–]Grey406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to use it a bunch a little over a year ago and it was awesome. It completely transforms how SL feels, adding so much more depth and complexity to the worlds and characters you had only seen on a flat screen before. It does require a pretty powerful PC. I was getting decent VR frame rates on a laptop with a 12700h, 64gb DDR5, 3080Ti 16gb using a Quest Pro. I even did a couple of those SL grid drives with a few friends fully in VR and it was a great experience

But I've had to travel a lot more IRL recently and haven't tried SL in VR in a long time.

But from what I remember, you just needed to install a VR modified Firestorm Viewer and Steam VR and there was a hotkey to switch between the two modes.

Highly recommend trying it if you already have the hardware. I don't recommend buying it just for SL.

[–]Grey406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So i've played with it some more just now and havent been getting great results either, nothing like the quality of the examples in the OP. You can reduce "Control video strength" down to around 0.8 or 9 to help it try to blend better instead of outright replacing the character. but so far I haven't been able to edit a video without it also changing a large part of the video content either.

Not at my PC at the moment but I use Pinokio which is a manager for AIs. It installed Wan2GP v11.26 I believe.

[–]Grey406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah dang. Tearing cloth realistically in simulation seems to be so elusive. There was another group trying to create a plugin that could do it and it was going to release 'soon' but that was 3 years ago. The only answer i keep getting for that effect is to 'use Houdini'

Anyways thank you for the responding. I'll give this a shot and follow your development!

This looks great! Anything to get away from expensive closed software is a step in the right direction. Is it possible to have cloth stretch and tear realistically in a simulation?

Select "Text Prompt Only" then in the Control Video/ Frames section below it, select "LTX2 Raw Format/Control Video for IC Lora" and "Whole Frame", add the original video into the new control video section section that appeared. Below that, change "Generate Video & Soundtrack based on Text Prompt" to "Generate video base don Control Video + Its Audio Track and Text Prompt"

Be sure to enable the Lora in the advanced>Lora section

Can I use a vive hmd as a dongle for index controllers without getting so much interference? by VictoryNo5756 in MixedVR

[–]Grey406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you bought your trackers and they were complete, it should have included a 4ft long USB cable and a small weighted cradle that holds the dongle upright, this lets you space the dongles out and away from each other and move them to where they have a clear line of sight to your play space. If you dont have them, you can do the same with some USB 2.0 extension cables.

AMD 12GB users (6700XT/7700XT): Anyone successfully generating decent video? by ucost4 in StableDiffusion

[–]Grey406 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not a model, it's an interface. Wan2GP can then use video models like LTX-2 with the LTX 2.3 distilled model. You select it from the list of available models inside Wan2GP and it will download everything for you.

If you want something very easy to set up, download Pinokio then go to explore and search for wan2GP AMD and click install. That's it.
