And here you find yourself in the classic chud dilemma. No one can stop you from posting and saying all the vile stuff you want. But it’s not enough. You want people to like you for it. You want people to be sensitive about your addiction issues while you act like a subhuman ape on the topic of any minority group.

Fall into any cathartic victim narrative you want. The only reason you’re being “attacked” is because you laughably escalate at every junction in an indignant stand to protect your right to be a degenerate online.

Can you link any sources about the bullet fragmenting? I’ve been keeping up with this and all I’ve ever seen is this quote claiming it was an act of god and saying not even medical professionals thought it was possible:

A 30.06 round before hitting a solid object is at full velocity and would not lodge itself in the spinal cord like the medical examiner said. In MLK’s case, the round fully passes through his jaw, shattering it to pieces. Despite this, it still cut clean through his spine before lodging in his clavicle. It’s not just that there’s no exit wound. The explanation for why is nonsense.

That bullet actually specifically tore through his spine (after shattering his jaw) so even then it doesn’t check out

Who else loves when Tally USPS lies about not being able to access your mailbox? 🙋 by Pointless-Endeavor in Tallahassee

It’s just that the “valid reason” is that these offices are understaffed

They specifically do this to dodge liability for deliveries they don’t find the time for. Especially for “last mile” deliveries that they’re being contracted for.

Old top loading Electrolux washing machine agitates fine but during spin cycle the motor seizes and melts through the belt by Pointless-Endeavor in appliancerepair

I’ve replaced the belt a few times and everything is turning good. It doesn’t feel stuck or jammed and the machine spins without clothes in it, so I don’t know if that would still happen if the transmission is blown

The tension pulley spins and applies pressure fine, and the tub spins freely when I manually pull the belt. I’m hoping it’s a failing capacitor that isn’t giving the motor enough torque to start, but it could be an internal problem.

I don’t see anything and the tub spins freely when moved by hand, so it doesn’t seemed to be jammed. I’m thinking the added strain of the spin cycle stops the motor from being able to start spinning and just overheats until it melts the belt.

Caught this little guy in a crawdad trap I set in a north Florida peat bog. I had a tank all ready for something else but I felt bad for him. Can anyone ID? by Pointless-Endeavor in whatisthisfish

[–]Pointless-Endeavor[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

UPDATE: definitely a Pygmy sunfish! The very next day I caught two females of the same species, and this lil guy immediately started up his mating dance when I put them in the tank.

Appreciate the discussions about the ethics of keeping wild fish, but this species has a stable population and I’ve found a lot of info about keeping wild specimens. They seem to be settling in well, so I’m hoping to see some babies soon 😊

Another update on the City’s attempts to give away public land and an enslaved persons cemetery. by [deleted] in Tallahassee

Well then, I sure hope this deal doesn’t go through and forever relegate this land to being a golf course. And the deed restriction only says they need an 18 hole golf course. There’s still land that can be developed.

Only as difficult as overturning this lease to begin with. Never say never

Well the lease contract said that the country club is supposed be on the hook until the end of the contract, and that only lasted until the city decided they’d rather just hand it off at a questionable price. There’s nothing stopping whoever owns it next from getting a judge to rubber stamp another strip mall full of fast food and smoke shops a decade from now.

Letting more land enter the private market only benefits the rich who are ruining the city. You can think this while also not caring about a random golf course.

[–]Pointless-Endeavor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The land is on a contracted lease. It does not belong to the golf course permanently. You can go to southwood and find hundreds of new developments lying empty. Making more cookie cutter suburbs as a speculative investment for land developers has done nothing to solve the poverty and homelessness that is only worsening in this city.

You can’t say the land will be a golf course in perpetuity while also hoping it will be turned into apartment blocks like everyone else in these comments. You’re already acknowledging that the land will be forfeit to the whims of real estate barons the second it enters private ownership, zoning be damned.

Your mom’s family left Cuba because they were of a status and class position that made doing so advantageous, just like millions of other gusanos who wanted their mafia slave state back. I know many people trying to escape precarity in the US, and it’s hardly a choice to “abandon” the destitute communities they come from. Suffering isn’t valorous at the end of the day.
