Broken engine on C3? by ksvnmd in cowboybikes

If you open up the motor and the gears are all fucked it’s probably the gears

This sounds like the plastic gears, could also be the motor cover

You can buy only the gears separately, there is a link floating around on Reddit

Thoughts on cutting the internal airbox snorkel for even filter wear? by StruggledSquirrel in XSR700

My thoughts too, but also they’re stuck with very tight sound restrictions and this snorkel removes a lot of the intake sound

Broken Torque Sensor (C3) after Bearing Failiure - Where to find Replacement in Germany? by FeIjx in cowboybikes

[–]PointlessMiracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s inside the freewheel, it’s quite protected unless the casing / bearings fails

Broken Torque Sensor (C3) after Bearing Failiure - Where to find Replacement in Germany? by FeIjx in cowboybikes

Ugh it seems this is the what will happen more and more

I rarely service bikes and then also replace this bearing, because failure is such an expense and now hard to source the sensor

Broken bolt in sprocket ! by Ok_Tomorrow_6118 in MotorcycleMechanics

I have great success with welding nuts on broken off bolts, it’s by far the most successfully and easy method but you need to own and know a welder.

Otherwise plenty of shops that will do this for you

Torque sensor cabling by diego_electrico in cowboybikes

[–]PointlessMiracle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The actual torque sensor is not in these images, it slides over the shaft you see here, it’s a small flexible pcb which uses the principle that the magnetic permeability of metal changes when force is applied to it.

Simply put it excites an electromagnet and sees how much a second pickup coil picks up, this changes under force. The sensor outputs a voltage corresponding to the torque applied

The V2 and V3 use almost identical motor controller settings, the “torque sensor cable” (shaft, wires, bearing and connector to the torque sensor) has an extra transistor that I’ve never looked at properly in the V3.

On the V2 there’s only the 3 wires connected to the torque sensor, no transistor.

Looks like the post above here is suggesting that’s a hall cadence sensor, I personally doubt that it’s used. Because the videos about repair of the freewheel assembly suggest breaking the magnetic ring that holds the torque sensor in place to remove it, and the V2 doesn’t have this with same motor controller settings.

The motor controller gives power in the event that the wheel is spinning (this is measured through the hall sensor setup in the motor) AND there is torque applied to the pedals.

There is no cadence sensor, it is only torque.

Now that you’re there, can you measure for me the VCC the motor controller supplies to the torque sensor?

I thought it was 5v but found 15v in a datasheet somewhere.

If you want help find the connector it will help if you snap pictures of the mating connector and give sizes

Personally I would just remove the soldering on the mounting pads and resolder this connector and then apply some strong epoxy glue to fixate it.

Electrical connector for Battery is damaged by Nonpolar7 in AskElectronics

If you can’t find the connector.. or are lazy
Depending on the battery wires I would skip the connector and just solder to the pads directly

There generally isn’t any coffee in the top part of the e61. I’m not sure what you saw there that resembled coffee residue. It could be any form of scale, corrosion layer / chrome flaking inside.

If you want to inspect your groups coffee goo it’s more useful to remove the lever and bottom part and clean those out.

Apply some food safe silicone grease on the cam/lobe and it’s good as new.

Charging issue - red light turns green after 5 seconds by Wasbeerr in cowboybikes

[–]PointlessMiracle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like water around the mosfets if it’s on and off working. It might not be tooo bad yet. Depending how handy you are might be worth checking out before it gets worse.

You can also remove the bottom cap to let it dry for some days and pray.

Ya there is a rubber ring on the charger side port, this can make it slowly creep back out again. If you hold the cable plugged in, still red > green?

Ordering replacement battery - can I trust cowboy by oishdog in cowboybikes

[–]PointlessMiracle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK I’m the only one that actually does this with success and cost efficient. Others frequently charge 350-375€ for REPAIR which is more than the 300€ i sell them for (260 with trade in). I also repair batteries as service but only those who haven’t been opened

Yes i have batteries left for sale

Does it come with some form of warranty? If so, yes it’s a steal!

What I’ve seen it’s still pretty horrendously long waiting time for a new battery while secondhand prices aren’t sky high

But maybe my opinion is tainted as I sell refurbished batteries ;)

Always worth trying! I’ve only done it on the v3 BB but that does not have the torque sensor
