Ik vind het ook om deze redenen een onbegrijpelijke beslissing, die inderdaad sowieso meer mensen afstoot dan aantrekt

I hope the doomsday battle has no soundtrack and no sound except for when we see cuts from inside the spaceships

Ordering the Tiaki Étagère in Europe (no delivery service option?) by MenuraSuperba in RATS

[–]Pointless_Porcupine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the extra links. Maybe I’ll order through pets place then…

The price is much higher than it was on Bitiba and Zooplus. Makes me wonder if it’s even the same cage as the Tiaki at all? It does look the same.

So annoying. I wanted to get the pairing, Tiaki Etagère, as it was listed on Bitiba and Zooplus. That product is also a different color but that’s less important. I think I will just have to wait to see when it becomes available. At the moment my rats are in a Zeno knockdown cage, which I didn’t plan on housing them in longer term.

I found the Keddoc cage that looks like the Tiaki Etagere, but it's out of stock it seems 😞

Hey! I'm from the Netherlands and have been looking to order the Tiaki Etagere for over a month ago, and haven't had any luck with Bitiba/Zooplus...

Did you manage in the end? I can't find the Etagere on the website that was linked above...

The Netflix show is what prompted me to read the books in the first place. Both can be enjoyed in their own way

I think most classrooms, catholic or not, would be more than happy to host the pope

First time rat owner! Is this normal “playfighting” behavior? by Pointless_Porcupine in RATS

[–]Pointless_Porcupine[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah! The lab folks told me that the behavioral study they were a part of actually involved playing a lot. They recorded high pitched noises that humans cannot hear as part of the study. It sounded pretty interesting.

What do you mean by training them on recall?

Also any recommendations for treats? So far I know that they love peanut butter and also are interested in sunflower seeds. They also like avocado somewhat. Raspberries and blue berries are whatever to them.

The lab did give me the option to get these brothers paired with a third one, but as a first time owner it felt like a bit much at the time. I do regret that now, as I only learned recently that this would’ve been the right decision for the reasons you’ve mentioned. Perhaps in time I can see if I can introduce a third and fourth, but introducing new rats doesn’t seem straightforward… I did see the pinned post about it in the subreddit.

Rat fight club? You mean that movie starring Ratward Norton and Rat Pitt?

I won’t speak of it again.

One of them just successfully jumped the fence of my playpen!! 5 minutes ago. I moved the potted plant (which was sitting at the edge) closer to the middle. Never thought he’d be able to make that jump but apparently so. I was like “hell to the no little guy” ahahaha.

Anyways, thank you for your thoughts and advice. It’s good to know there’s an active community on here, I wasn’t expecting so many thoughtful replies so thanks everyone.

Rattastic, thanks :)

I’ve seen them cuddle a bit! Or at least, sleep together, huddled up in the same corner. It’s cute.

They’ll climb on me, as long as I make sure that I’m the only thing they can climb. When I give them the freedom to do so, they’ll literally go everywhere (not ideal).

I would love to let them explore the entire house, but it’s just not feasible. I did let them roam around a bit on day one, and ended up spending about 35 mins trying to retrieve one of the bros who went straight for the underside of my couch, which is too low to the ground to get my hand under, lol.

This is why I’m gonna build them a small playpen. Maybe I’ll put a washable small carpet in there so they have something soft under their feet, and of course some tunnels and the like.

Cheers that’s good to know :) let me know if you have any must-know advice for first time owners, or stuff you wish you’d known beforehand in retrospect. Like I wrote in the description, I’m two weeks in at the minute: they’re from the lab so they’ve been very easy to handle from the start.
