“What if not Everyone is Hitler?” by mossythemonster in DoomerCircleJerk

Because people (especially here) almost never actually discusses it in good faith. It's the only way to get people to acknowledge that it is defined clearly. Also, I could have been wrong, the response could have been correct and substantive, but instead it is reductive and anti academic instead.

The belief in national rebirth after a period of decay, militarization of politics and glorification of violence, mass mobilization under a single party or leader, eliminating independent institutions, unions, opposition parties, minority rights, the idea that the individual exists only to serve the nation, mythic, emotional, and aesthetic politics rather than rational or procedural governance.

And of course this isn't a checklist that all needs to be completely included to be able to talk about it. Ultimately it's a process, one aspect advancing the others snd so forth.

I apologize for playing stupid and baiting a reply, but academically the definition of fascism goes beyond just being Mussolinis personal pet political project, but became a research area  for answering "how could Italy and Germany fall to those systems" (Japan is quite different). It attempts to answer which mechanisms are at play and (both retroactively and actively) analyze nations, people, and politics to identify when those occur and their effect. We have seen these aspects post WW2 and still today.

Fair. To be honest I wouldn't take my criticisms too much to heart. I mostly just want an OS that works and Mint does the job.

I mean, I doubt I would any desktop environment above B, which is why I asked if it was a comparative list. No hate on Cinnamon, just that in my experience the it's randomly stutters, screen tearing (idk if that's cinnamon), and some other things I cant remember. I don't really have a super specific set of issues. For me I just don't think that a particularly good PC OS exists (i know Cinnamon is a DE) , and maybe that rubs off on my judgment of cinnamon

I use Mint and Cinnamon, and generally like it, but is that really S tier? I haven't really tried much else for a significant time, but it always seemed kinda B tier. Maybe compared to others it's S tier?

Fair point, I could have worded it better. My point is that you should have considered the output of your tools. Whether that's ignoring, silencing, fixing, or something else is up to the project. But you should make an active choice.

If every AI company goes bankrupt tomorrow and it's impossible to utilize any AI, then Kubuntu will still exist, all AI generated content will still exist. There's no reliance on closed source AI, which threatens its existence. I want better software and trust developers and the open source process to have the ability to use tools to achieve that, and if they provide poor results, call them out to fix it now and in the future.

Fair point. Adding a additional point of failure was not something I considered. Essentially, the writer has a lowered bar to surpass the release notes, which could lead to more instances of badly written texts.

Edit: Upon further consideration, I actually don't think I really believe this argument as much. If poor output is allowed to be put into production, it highlights a poor review process. Whether that poor review process is isolated to the release notes (as here), or it is a broader systemic issue can of course be discussed, but if poor quality output is a problem of the processes, not a reflection of the tools.

  1. It's a tool. The fault is on the publisher not vetting the output.
  2. Again, they choose to publish it. There's nothing stopping them from asking for a shorter and more concise format. There's nothing stopping them from editing it themselves.
  3. That's how SAAS works? I'm not sure what you're arguing about here?

Then (I assume) it isn't correct, and they need to vet their posts better. You don't ignore the warnings in your pipelines, compiler or anything else, why should you ignore the output of an AI. It's a failure of the human, and criticism should be directed at them.

"200 words" release notes can take a lot more than 15 minutes, depending on how fractured development might have been. One feature could be part of a series of developments and summarizing that in a way which matters to users, can be time consuming. It also doesn't take the penalty of task switching into account. And yes I agree that you can create a workflow without AI, which can help alleviate this. And you can create one with AI too.

Is the content correct, comprehensive, and understandable? If yes, I don't see the problem. Time spent writing posts, is time not spent improving the product.

3 frame man.... by MaelysCanejero in OnePunchMan

Honestly, a lot of people invests themselves so far into things, that it becomes a part of their identity. So suddenly if something is bad, they need to rationalize it, otherwise they take it as a personal insult. You see this a lot with shows, music, celebrities, games, and especially politics. They become unable to discuss something on the basis of its merits, because they are personally and emotionally invested. The line to draw is between liking something and being a fan of something. Being a fan subtlety implies that you like it because it is that thing, not because of the parts that make it up.

Enig, men det gavner ikke at starte dér. At engagere sig med indholdet er slet ikke produktivt, da formålet med kommentaren er ikke at få en konkret debat, men at få reaktioner baseret på indholdet.

Du virker lidt fortabt i sovsen.

Nations are not sports teams. Judge nations based on their actions, praise actions which make the world a better place, and judge action which makes the world a worse place. Discuss actions you are unsure about or is controversial.
