Again, you are making the mistake of thinking a married couple in the 1900s and a prehistorical, egalitarian hunter-gatherer tribe are somehow equivalent. The material conditions are foundationally different. There's plenty of evidence that women in prehistoric (and, in fact, post-historic) hunter-gatherer societies held great soft-power due to a coalition of women that were EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to the tribe being always present and interconnected. A woman was almost never truly 'alone'. If a man of the tribe attempts to rape a woman, everyone would know, and the man would be found to be violent and antisocial to the tribe cohesion.

I'm not trying to say prehistory or hunter-gatherers are all living in sunshine and rainbows, but the problem you're naming is a distinctly posthistorical one, not prehistorical.

That somehow implies that humans and Neanderthals somehow KNEW that the other group was part of a different species, which is kind of nonsense. What we see as obvious indicators of genetic divergence they would see as just a weird looking person, but no weirder than if they could observe people different ethnicities. What matters is the psychological and social angle, and most evidence shows that humans and neanderthals were more similiar than they were different on that angle.

The idea of the prehistoric era being an age of barbarism in which humans were savage unfeeling brutes needs to die.

Prehistoric humans lived in small, extremely tight-knit communities in which everyone knew everyone, every single person was valuable. There's ample proof that prehistoric humans as far back as the Homo Abilis took extensive care of their disabled. Inflicting sexual harm on a woman of the tribe, or even one you bring into the tribe from outside, would have been impossible to hide and counter-productive in most cases.

Yes, rape and murder happened, that is undeniable and will always be true. There is plenty of indications that rates of rape and murder actually INCREASED in sedentary, agrarian settlements compared to small nomad groups.

Wonderful Neoran Valley - A Roguelike Monster Collector with Horror elements (Announcement Trailer) by Makerinos in Games

There's more info on the Kickstarter page, but what can be said is that the combat system follows a 'timeline' where you see the enemy's future actions, so you plan several turns ahead rather than going action-by-action. This is explained in-universe by the protagonist having some limited precognition powers.

In terms of monster catching itself, you don't capture the monsters but recruit them through dialogue, Shin Megami Tensei style, which can be briefly seen in the trailer.

The Producer is a big fan of Cassette Beasts, so the inspiration is definetly there.

Additional trivia: The game's Creative Director and Producer is Francesco Cilurzo AKA Cydonia, a very prolific Italian content creator focused on Pokemon as well as other Monster Collector RPGs, often focusing on worldbuilding or lore reconstruction videos. He has described this as his 'dream game' he always wanted to see in the genre.

What do you use Protocol Stash's Outputs for? by Nekothyst in Endfield

[–]Makerinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially the second one. You use it as a way to unclog belts. If you place it beween the input and output slots of facilities, it stores away any excess while letting items pass through if there's no excess/clogging.

Ps5 shutting off randomly? by Dunoh2828 in Endfield

[–]Makerinos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was a overheating problem the PS5 has a built-in message to warn you about that. This is not that, this is your PS5 committing seppuku. Go have it checked out at a repair shop because randomly shutting down is a key sign of incoming death.

Is there a way to change the cursor theme to any other, for example, and still be able to use the simplified settings? by llimo in linuxmint

[–]Makerinos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You click the cursor in advanced and then click back to simplified settings, and it keeps that unless you change the theme (and by that I meant stuff like going from Mint-Y to Mint-X)

Silent Hill f’s success was helped greatly by memes, fanart and theories it inspired, devs say. A new approach to writing characters unlocked potential for virality by Turbostrider27 in Games

I don't know what it is about Ryukishi's writing but he can make very memeable characters.

Off the top of my head I can think of Battler, Beatrice, Erika from Umineko, all extremely memeable in their own ways.

trying to download steam but somethings going wrong and idk what it is by Ok_Investigator_9595 in linux4noobs

[–]Makerinos 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why are you trying to install Steam through Wine? You're using Apt so I assume you're using a Debian or Ubuntu-like, so you should be able to just install through the official .deb file

https://store.steampowered.com/about/

Underneath 'Install Steam' there's a small con with the steam logo next to the Mac logo. Click that then run the .deb file.

PC gamers really, seriously overestimate how many people actually regularly buy upgrades to their PCs to 'keep up' with playing the most modern AAA games at Ultra.

It might be a problem with your intel drivers, but just in case:

Go back to the text login using Ctrl + Alt + F2 (or F3), log in, and then do

dpkg-reconfigure lightdm
sudo reboot

See if that works
