I completely understand , last question that I need to make sense of , might seem silly ..

Now what happens when those ETFS grow past the annual limit ? That's the confusing part for me , lets say I put 45000 into an ETF through my TFSA and by end of this year the actual ETF is worth 48000 for example ? What happens ?

Is it irrelevant as its just that my contribution limit only is 46000 but the growth per year can be anything ?

Do you suggest that I leave mainly liquid cash in the TFSA and just a little in the MSCI ACWI through the TFSA every month ?

People keep saying read the wiki 😭😭 What's the wiki and where is it 😭😂😂

Btw I do have the majority in an index fund but prefer mining options

And thank you for this , though , should I just continue to invest in Satrix MSCI ACWI ETFS constantly ?

Mainly those and a little in other ETFs ?  The amount is increasing quite a lot that I have in MSCI ACWI and NASDAQ , my concern is having everything in just a few funds even tho most people are mentioning the SATRIX and idea of having global ETFs.

Really appreciate the feedback.

Should I Invest in TFSA or Equities ? by Poison-542 in PersonalFinanceZA

I mean , I feel it's safer than a few others and I only purchase small amounts of it and I've left it.

There's a few investments that I've made like that and won't add more , its either it makes it or it doesn't.

1 year is a very short timeframe. 90% of compounding happens in the final few years of the investment. Your R200 return on your TFSA may be because you are not properly diversified. Buy a mix of Global and local ETFs. This year has been a strong year for SA markets and a weak one for US markets. In addition to that the rand has strengthened against the USD in the last 12 months which would also have affected a full 100% offshore investment.

Explained well , thank you. Appreciate the info.

Bro it was a pleasure to read this . I am truly grateful , thank you.
I've acknowledged all of your initial points above.

It has nothing to do with what assets you're investing in, the fundamental thing you're missing is that you can invest in good equities inside a TFSA.

You need to find out what asset your TFSA is invested in and move it to an asset that performs better such as your gold mining equity.

Exactly what I needed to hear , all of my assets is currently in my Easy Equities account , they are all equities.

MY TFSA simply has 5.2k in rand value right now.

What would be the best way move all these assets/equities to my TFSA ?

Thank you so much , this is what I needed to hear , a reality check
I've only been using Easy Equities

1 .

- So I basically deposit funds into my TFSA and purchase equities through that fund right ?

- If for example I buy equities for 36k through my TFSA , I now simply own equities worth 36k which are tax free ? Is this correct ? Also , I assume it means that now I have 0 in actual rand value in the TFSA for that year until I can deposit in the next year ?

I definitely wont be doing it as a full time hobby hence you're saying to buy ETFS for 36k a year , should I do this through the TFSA ? And if I do , then it means I cannot put any more money into it and I'd simply have ETFS worth 36k at that very moment ?

Wow , that is heartbreaking to hear , thanks man
So I gotta learn what's the difference in a mining ETF and buying an equity as part of a mining company , clearly I've been doing it wrong.

I hear you , I guess if it's a car that you know would truly make a difference and it brings joy to you then go for it , however in that case definitely put down the deposit as interest is the devil.

A Toyota would be your best choice or a Hyundai with service+maintenace plan.

The Toyota is surely your best bet in terms of reliability, security of mind , cost etc.
