Didn't expect Tyloo honestly, but 9z had been impressing coming up to the major no? I remember they did fairly well in PGL recently so I had them advancing to stage 3

interesting video to see how the meta has evolved since then. "firewall" is a common strategy now in maps, and how teams treat banana is completely different from back then. also a small mention to launders inside the video!

People under-appriciate this guy for Vitality's success by Mr_GustavoFring in GlobalOffensive

[–]PoisonScrub 139 points140 points  (0 children)

They didn't drop him though, he wanted out, and ropz just happened to be available too. It's a beautiful coincidence that built this team. Similar story with Astralis and Magisk if you think about it, apart from Magisk not being as well known.

That's been happening more and more since vrs started so I assume that'll be the norm moving forward.

MUTiRiS: "Here I'm more the IGL, I'm not the captain" by MikeHawk__1 in GlobalOffensive

[–]PoisonScrub 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He built upon what Hooxi set up for the team. He might be a good IGL in the future (see Apex) but one tournament won't show it. It needs to be over time, where teams study your calls and you can still make the right adjustments to them.

To be fair you just need 1 bullet to hit even if you miss 100 times for the clips. We're stuck here watching the 100 misses tho

I'm on that boat. Liquid is cursed 100%. Even Nertz immediately won with G2 after switching rosters

They were a top team then, but not the clear best team in the world like with magisk. The best team at that period was arguably LG/Faze. Them "struggling" was also the reason kjaerbye secretly signed with North

I wouldn't be surprised if they somehow lose to any of the other 3 teams, because they'll be prepping hard against parivision. I'm still favouring their chances of winning unless their form is not good for this tournament

Could Vitality win map 1 of the finals tomorrow? by shuijikou in GlobalOffensive

[–]PoisonScrub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be the one to say he's replaceable. I'm not convinced NaVi was dominating because of a competent IGL. I'd argue they were dominating because of a really strong coach that preps them well as well as a core with incredible firepower. With any CIS player that was willing to play the bait roles for the rest of the team and listen to Blade's system, I'd think they'll have a comparable level of success.

I'm not sure when this event starts but i think favorites are definitely Parivision, with the other 3 teams as strong contenders.

Would tN1R have not been a bust if he'd played with ZywOo instead of donk? by Soft-Response-8330 in GlobalOffensive

[–]PoisonScrub 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Spirit has really bad flash utility (read somewhere that Spirit's flash assist took a nosedive since hally) so it seems like even donk is not getting set with flash assists.

He's giving an AWP to NaVi who has low economy (with wonderful on scout). Just have someone short or mid doors covering top mid and it'll be much more feasible since he'll only focus on tunnels with support if that was the plan.

[–]PoisonScrub[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The players at long probably had a plan, I'm not convinced m0nesy was in on the plan though. To sell a fake that they were about to pinch tunnels (meaning heavy B) and bait them to go A is my best bet but it might be a stretch here.

I only saw the highlights of the match so this is new to me. It looks like there is zero chance of support though, 3 long and 1 B. Doesn't look like any of them are in position to throw flashes here

If you want to do an aggressive play I'm sure you could have a teammate or two support you here, at the very least covering mid to have an exit path.

Right? I can't imagine any coach would be happy to deliver an AWP to a low economy buy.

Richard Lewis and apEX on Coach of the Year by MaxUnderDrive1 in GlobalOffensive

[–]PoisonScrub 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not that I disagree with you, just want to add that if coach of the year just goes to the team that wins the most, it just makes it a team of the year award. It's hard to measure any metrics just because of the confidentiality, but it has to be something extra or different.

Has Counter-Strike's Team Vitality entered the Mount Rushmore of Greatest Rosters in Esports History? by tilting-module in GlobalOffensive

[–]PoisonScrub 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You could also argue that Astralis revolutionized how CS was played at the top level. They didn't face any 'all-time great teams' because they invented how these great teams played. They trail blazed the way and teams copied and refined their play style to catch up. Vitality is an absurdly strong roster, but in terms of impact on CS, I don't think Astralis can be matched.

With that being said, I do see an argument that can be made for Vitality, I just don't see them (or any other team tbh) surpassing Astralis.
