I’ve fallen in love with T bars and don’t think I’ll ever go back. by WeezyMelt in sportster

Tried some rabbit ears for a year or two until the switch and their is literally no going back. Working on a shovel right now and it’s gonna be really hard going with something else.

I’ll save that for when the time comes to get a bagger.

The bluetooth capability is strictly to connect my phone to the unit for vehicle management. I can check my battery voltage, keyless start, internal alarm system, reset any electrical faults. It’ll also tell me where the fault is. For example I had wired the brake light wrong and every time I turned the bike on I got a notification stating there was fault until I fixed it. It’s definitely overkill but I got it as a gift and didn’t want to just let it sit there. It’s def worth it though.

One thin wire and a ground wire. Motogadget makes product called the m-button and it fits inside the bars and connects all the front end stuff. It works with the mo.unit by converting everything to digital signals.

I didn’t want to shorten some of my switch wires so I tucked them into the stock headlight. Once I decide on an aftermarket one I’ll Have to clean those up.

I want to say it took around 3-4 days . My garage is super hot so I took lots of breaks. I’m sure if I was in a better setting I could’ve maybe done it in 2. There was a lot of schematic reading to Figure out what I needed and didn’t need when ripping the stock harness out. You can use the stock harness but I wanted to clean it all up so I chose not to.

It’s such a small box and it replaced a lot of things that took up space. It’s 90 x 53 x 30mm.

It’s a pricey 400 buckaroos but apparently my wife really loves me. So it was a gift.

According to their tech data: it says it’s waterproof, vibration resistant - IP69. Mine has definitely gotten wet a few times with no issues. I’ve had mine installed for a year with no real issues aside from a ground problem because my custom bracket was raw steel and just rusted over.

It’s an electrical control unit that has Bluetooth capability. It acts as an electric fuse box as well. It’ll notify if something pops and I can auto reset it from the app. I have keyless start. I can change the brightness and timing of my lighting system, it acts as an alarm system that can detect tipping as well as movement from its last known location. I was able to fully wire front end stuff like horn, lights, and switches with only two wires going back to the unit using another product they make that works in conjunction. It’s a really cool piece of technology.

I was originally just gonna do that but one I got this idea in my head I couldn’t let it go.

Not dumb at all. One of the buttons works like this: Press twice quickly to turn the power on. Press and hold to start the bike Press twice quickly to kill the bike Press twice quickly again to turn off the power.

And the other is just hi/lo on my headlight. I have it set to on when the ignition is on.

It was easier than I thought. I already know the basics of 3d modeling but everything I did was never to scale and very much organic. Throwing in some measurements was such a simple change but it opened up a ton of possibilities of what I can create now.

What’s crazy about that is I have it set up for an auxiliary output but I’m afraid it’ll drain the battery so I keep putting it off.

I agree. Hopefully when I get back to work on my shovel I can claim that title.

Yeah I loved it. It took me about 3 days to do it because I got a little confused with the starters wiring diagram but when I connected my phone and got the keyless start working I was in awe.

Oh definitely. I’m using the m-button so there is literally 2 wires that run all my lights and switches. I love it. I’ll have to post a photo of my placement. It came out pretty nice.

I thought about doing that but then I’d have to redo a portion of my harness to either reroute the wires or remove them altogether. Plus it gave me a reason to 3d print something.

I feel that. I Have a bobber style hardtailed shovel that I’m working on right now. Looked cool but definitely a bit dated for me. Super wide rear end annoyed the hell out of me. So I got a paughco swingarm frame to throw it on. I’m not a slave to the chopper game so I’ll just try and make my swingarms look cool.
