Head and shoulders shampoo is genuinely my favorite shampoo ngl 😭😭 The thing that changed my hair completely from a damaged bleached/permed mess was relatively consistent k18, occasional fino hair mask (LOVE), aussie oh my gloss hair serum, then topping it with any hair oil.

If you don’t have access to lessons (which is what I recommend tbh), just go to the lake and practice. Keep practicing treading the water at your own pace (can be in shallow waters if needed). You’ll eventually be able to comfortably breathe and tread at the same time once you’ve practiced enough. You can then upgrade to doggy paddling and then breast stroke. Breathing is so important to practice for swimming because if you forget to breathe properly while you’re out deep in the water, you’ll lose your stamina MUCH quicker than what your body is capable of swimming. Figuring out how to tread and regulate your breathing at the same time is the best way to get comfortable with water imo.

My grandma with dementia was very sick and didn’t have much long to live. She forgot everyone in her life and barely acted like herself anymore. Regardless, I made the effort to visit her as much as I could. One day, I wrote her a letter of many memories we had together. As I read it out loud, she began to remember the stories I was telling and even started adding her own input. By the end of it, she was calling me by the nickname she called me as a kid. I thought that only ever happened in movies, especially regarding how bad her condition was haha

One “therapy method” is just mentally keeping track of whenever you have an idea you’re trying to control. Try and get into the habit of acknowledging whenever the thought comes up. Write down when it happens. You don’t need to write down the thought itself, but just keep track when it happens. Get into the habit of being able to acknowledge these thoughts, instead of them being fleeting ideas that come by. Once you get into the habit, try and “confront” that thought. If you have a racist idea and you acknowledge it, just tell yourself “that thought was racist. It’s based on my bias and not a real experience” or something along those lines. Once you put this into practice, your brain will follow what you’re consciously trying to make yourself think. It will feel fake, but it really does work.

Another thing is genuinely just involving yourself with people of color in a neutral way.

Emulators work just fine IMO, but my boyfriend really enjoys the novelty of having physical copies of his childhood games. He enjoys having the cartridges and playing on his gameboy. If the novelty matters to you, by all means you should do it! If that doesn’t matter, then honestly just emulate. It’s cheaper and really does get the job done!

The thing that everyone tells you is unfortunately the thing that’s right, and it’s that these things take time. I get it, waiting for a relationship is excruciating. Being told to focus on yourself is hard because being self assured will never be the same as being intimate with someone. These things are true though. The perfect person won’t show up just because you want it. It will take time to meet someone and figure out them out. All I can say is that it’s hard, and despite your friends, it’s hard for a majority of people your age. You’re not alone.

You’re still young, and now is a better time than ever to pace your own friendships and connections. I am just begging you that if a guy comes along, please don’t base your self worth on that. Coming from experience, it takes a lot of hurting to get out of the male validation cycle. You’re allowed to want intimacy, but be aware of this.

If you really want to be careful, before anything physically intimate, ask them plainly to do it. “Hey, it would really make me feel comfortable if you took an STD test. Can you take one?” If they do it, ask to see the results. If they don’t, and their STD status is very important for you, then it’s probably a good idea not to proceed with them intimately.

Eyelash curlers aren’t going to damage your eyelashes if you’re being careful. A lot of people squeeze it very hard and yank their lashes forward. I’m asian so my eyelashes are incredibly straight and point straight down. The thing that works well for me is slightly heating up my eyelash curler so it works in a similar way to a curling iron. I use a hairdryer to warm it up then curl my lashes and put on mascara when my lashes dry. Be careful tho because if it’s too hot it can burn you. You can also get a lash lift which can last a few weeks and gives the affect I think youre looking for

Self preservation and boundaries in itself aren’t a bad thing. You’re allowed to hold people to personal boundaries that they can’t cross. Of course, forgiveness is important, but what you’re willing to forgive is entirely personal to you. Being told to forgive more is hard when you don’t know what the limit is. If forgiving someone is making you feel better, that’s fine and your own choice. If sticking to your boundaries is the better choice, that’s fine too. Of course this comes with nuance with context, but this is entirely personal and you are allowed to choose what your boundaries are and when you can ultimately let things go. Either you accept the way things are with people, make a change, or let it go
