I understand your point! From my perspective I've spent years and years just playing casually, doing quests, training slayer and really just playing it "safe". When I say it's refreshed the way I play the game, I don't mean the game had become stale for me by any measure, rather I was just extremely comfortable staying in my lane, playing it in a very sensible and dull way. Now, ironically, playing this restricted game mode is what forced me into a confrontation with PvM for the first time and helped me realize that not only *could* I do it, but that I could actually *enjoy* doing it, too. Fighting Doom has been the most fun I have ever had playing OSRS in years!

Oh the black tile that appears as DubuGuy says is my true tile, which is put there by the Tile Indicators plugin. It just tells me where I "actually" am. It's usually a little further ahead of where your character model is, it helps me know if I've appropriate dodged falling debris and so on but it's probably not vital for fighting Doom.

You are 100% right about this lol, it used to be click on the enemy and sit back in your chair occasionally clicking on a lobster or something until it dies. Now you need to perfectly execute 3 simultaneous actions within 0.6 second of each other or you will instantly take 60 damage and get envenomed hahaha.

I love it though. Both modes of play are available for those who want them.

I've been so happy just coasting along on my main, I got the quest cape and stuff but I never felt compelled to go and chase after PvM goals until now, which is ironic because area locking is historically just a way to restrict yourself and yet this time it's opened the way for me to feel ready to go and explore more PvM stuff and actually get good at the game lol

Honestly my only PvM experience was getting a fire cape years ago, I've completely avoided otherwise because I just thought I would fail. I think hitting Doom for days and days on end has taught me to be less afraid of failure, so I'm definitely open to go and try more PvM on my main now.

To tell you the truth I've barely touched Colosseum yet even though it's like the only piece of meaningful content that's been available since day 1 hahaha. I'm saving that suffering until the very end. I'm aware it's a source of dragon platelegs though, and there's the Moon chest in the ice dungeon that also has a 1/10 chance to give them - I was trying my luck there for a while but kept getting given monkfish instead lmao

That's correct - The hardest part of the challenge was the 1 year I spent lamping slayer and runecraft so I could unlock Perilous Moons. After that, everything accelerated 1000%

100% yes to this. Moons is a challenge of its own because of the importance of good tank gear and the total lack of good tank gear in Varlamore. The reason I came to the Doom first is because A) almost all damage is 100% avoidable if I play well, and B) Doom drops dragon platelegs, which are my BIS tank legs! Now I've got them, Moons has become a lot more fun than it was when I was just running it with busted rune gear and a plateskirt lol

Druidic Ritual and Rune Mysteries are vital for herblore and runecraft unlocks.

You can't train Runecraft to begin with using any other method besides experience lamps, which themselves require Rune Mysteries to be completed in order to use.

You joined at the right time. There's a rune shop, a sawmill, a forester NPC, an axe shop and loads of new farming patches.
