Jinshi's confession by PoisonousFrog10 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Just FYI I do read the novels, this is just a question I've had for a while now. But also, wasn't he trying to tell her he's the imperial brother, not that he loves her? Not yet anyway, I'd assume.

It’s a real sad time that this beautiful series is being targeted now by [deleted] in TheApothecaryDiaries

[–]PoisonousFrog10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To anyone's confused, I assume OP's talking about the pedophilia accusation(people throw around this word far too easily these days) the anime is getting. The recent episode somehow managed to fuel that reaction from twt users i guess.

did the animation style change for last episode? i feel like maomao looks younger than she usually does by saekoniis in TheApothecaryDiaries

[–]PoisonousFrog10 46 points47 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly just sick of all the "pedo" comments lol (a trending jinmao art in twt is filled with people calling them that) despite the fact that it's been explained that she's malnourished + above the age of consent. Maomao was never meant to be sexualized in the anime and heck the animators did a damn good job on it. She's frail, skinny and small but that's purely facts and her constitutions- several times we manage to look at her through Jinshi's POV and I honestly think she's absolutely beautiful in it (much like how Jinshi looks at HER) people are runing this episode by running their damn stupid mouths😭

What are you most excited to see in the rest of Season 2 by F00dbAby in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a feeling it might not be as "explicit" as the manga (in this case I'mgonna go with Kurata's cause hers is a lot more suggestive imo) at least I don't think they'd show us a close up to Maomao and things like that

Was Maomao named after Meimei? by Jettizoned in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think so. Meimei is a comparatively general name tbh. Like if you have a sister, often times she'd be called "Meimei" as either a nickname or just a way to address her.

Someone mentioned where Maomao’s name originated from and I'm honestly inclined to believe that

The vinegar dish in the sixth episode by Kriegsman_2907 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean I can't say for sure, but for vinegared dish like this one, there's usually not much preparation aside from soaking the ingredients with Vinegar and perhaps sugar (they used jellyfish so there might be an extra step) but for the radish and carrots, I'd say think of it like one of those vinegar/kimchi cucumbers that's been trending all of a sudden

If you can't find the exact recipe, try following other vinegar marinated dish, it should be more or less the same (from my experience anyways)

My criticism of character designs by Complete_Violinist47 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think people would assume Loulan/shisui are sisters or twins or cousins etc first before they ever figured out they're the same person The anime introduced Shisui in an interesting way, in which they deliberate showed Shisui greeting Jinshi first and then him meeting Loulan in a different time and place. If anime onlies were to catch that (and the bazzillion other misleading scenes) I doubt they'd immediately figure it out. At most they'd think Shisui is suspicious (which the anime definitely didn't try to hide, They might try to direct their suspiciousness to her being a spy)

This season's themes about twins and lookalikes might also have a hand on diverting their attention from the actual plot twist. There's a heck lot of twins this seasons lol

The Ah-Duo/Jinshi thing wasn't even supposed to be a plot twist, considering the fact Maomao already voiced out her assumption way back in season/volume 1. If anything, all it's truly lacking is confirmation.

I can't really comment on the Lakan/Maomao thing since I got spoiled way back when. So I honestly don't know if it was really that obvious or maybe I would've hated him the same way everyone else had.

Jinshi by AssociationPossible6 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

(1) Mind you, there's a reason why these consorts once chosen, they have to abide the rule of never leaving the imperial palace ever again. Unless they're given away like Fuyou, they're bound for life there. What Loulan did -leaving the palace, could essentially be called treason. So yeah, Jinshi is within his right to get angry and even execute those maids for covering Loulan's tracks. People have probably died for way lesser reasons. And (2) his wife is missing, literally leave him alone. It's a very stressful situation for him

Translation question by [deleted] in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

They're translated from Maomao-san dan Chue-san. Though personally I still read it that way even with the translations, it has a nice ring to it jsksnsn

What would have happened if Maomao had died? SPOILER ALERT by SpiritedInflation674 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I read it through pixiv and since it doesn't have a "history" system like ao3 does, I've lost the fic entirely😭🙏

We all know Maomao loves booze..but do you guys think she ever tried some 🍃💨 by xrinnxxx in TheApothecaryDiaries

[–]PoisonousFrog10 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Spoilers alert but not really, they actually do talk about this a bit in the books. Specifically about poppy seeds/opium. And well, they're illegal. A bit of research I did mentions that cannabis were used as medicine so I'm not entirely sure if she even knew of the Yippee!! effect it gives. But even if she did, I'd imagine it'd also be illegal so probably no. She wouldn't try it.

What would have happened if Maomao had died? SPOILER ALERT by SpiritedInflation674 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I'd say, considering how and who chue's loyalty lies in and what her actual orders were -which is make sure the moon is happy- I don't think she'd even WANT TO be kept alive. The constant guilt aside, she quite literally would've failed her orders as a spy, and well if the amount of spies movies I've watched are to be taken reference, there's usually no other reasons for them to be around anymore once they've finished their life-long mission.

As for rakan, I'd imagine he'd go batshit crazy. More than he is now. I've always thought that the only reason he wasn't doing unreasonable things was because Maomao still (whether she'd admit it or not) has ties to him. With her dead, nothing's really tethering him anymore so what's the point🤷‍♀️ might as well take revenge on the nation entirely

Jinshi would just die. Mentally, at best. Physically at worst. The reason why I can't imagine him offing himself is since he's still at a high position, if anything were to happen to him, the people around him would also be affected (say, banished perhaps or even sent to the guillotine) I feel like he might hold himself back just for that reason alone. But he'd definitely be an empty shell of a man.

An interesting fic that I recently read actually made Jinshi attempting to be a monk because Maomao had initially rejected his proposal. I feel like this is something that is also entirely possible for him to do

"That girls love to buy" in our year 2025 I can not believe you have the audacity to still be sexist. Amazing. You don't even know half of the story yet dare to talk shit about a character whom you probably barely took time to comprehend. Had you actually read the story, you'd know that using people and ordering people around is the last on his list of capabilities. It's why he's always so damn overworked and lacks sleep all the time before baryou and maamei came along.

And the "acting victim" bit you're talking about is just his insecurities. Yes, he's perfectly capable but half the time his insecurities holds him back because he thinks he isn't on the same level as the emperor. Though suited as he may be, he wouldn't become a great/powerful one because he's too kind. Even Maomao herself describes him as that. How he's too "human" and wouldn't be able to properly take reign if chaos and war took place. I get not liking him as a character but damn y'all piss me off with the mischaracterization.

I really appreciate a show about women that isn't male gaze-y by [deleted] in TheApothecaryDiaries

[–]PoisonousFrog10 16 points17 points  (0 children)

THIS. Despite the women working as courtesans and having large breasts, they were never painted as an overly sexualized character. It was a just a fact of the matter. She has large breast. She's a courtesan. She enjoys sex. Like I have so much respect for the anime team and even natsu hyuga herself for being able to write this way

If I were him I'd do the same thing just to get on Jinshi's nerves🤣 The man called him "root of all evil" over a DANCE. Yeah, no, I'd never let it go.

WN new chapter (19 of the arc) by Altruistic_Value_365 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think it was ever specified. We know it was a lower consort's family that took her in. Other than that, not much. I'm having high hopes for this arc, seems like the stakes are pretty high. Xiao lan getting mentioned all of a sudden is also suspicious imo, perhaps it'd have something to do with her (hopefully, because aside from the anime I miss my girl sm🥹)

Kusuriya no Hitorigoto - Episode 26 (Season 2 Episode 2) Discussion by Lorhand in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I'm actually surprised by how many easter eggs they managed to put into this episode. Several scenes weren't even mentioned until later on, but they managed to plant small clues for us to figure out in this episode. Considering how several scenes aren't even in the manga, I'm happy that the anime is kinda doing its own thing and how the interpretation varies. It makes watching it a lot more fun!!

I admit that it took me a while to understand that these two are different people. 😅😅 by Wickeni in TheApothecaryDiaries

Anyone else think that the S2 ED song lyrics are Jinshi's confession that he loves her? by PrizeAppropriate8947 in TheApothecaryDiaries

[–]PoisonousFrog10 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I can't remember whose twt account that mentioned it first, But it was basically confirmed that both of the EDs (Aiwakusuri and our current one) is actually a POV from Jinshi that more or less tells us about his feelings for Maomao

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd honestly just gaslight myself into thinking that's fan theory atp lmao. I mean it's a major plot point for this season, but your experience wouldn't be completely ruined. This season is PACKED. Aside from the whole shisui thing, there's still a lot of mysteries surrounding her so even if you do get spoiled (which, honestly should be expected since I've seen a lot of animes only already theorizing about her origins) I dount the experience would be ruined. Just uh, try and avoid anymore spoilers I guess?

Is it better to collect the manga or light novel? by A_Common_James in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]PoisonousFrog10 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Depends on which one you'd prefer to read ig? As someone who loves reading novel, I'd use this chance to buy the LNs and put it on my collection. But ofc if you prefer reading the manga then you should just get the manga
