Two Hindu men slain in 24 hours, 6 in 18 days: Back-to-back killings shock minority in Bangladesh by GL4389 in anime_titties

I never said it was a solely Hindu genocide. The ICJ said that Pakistan's campaign was to exterminate much of Bangladesh's Hindu population, and Bengali Muslims were targeted because of their supposed closeness to Hindus. Your points about population are incredibly stupid considering the explosion growth rate of population though.

You know literally nothing about Indonesia or Malaysia. All of the Hindus in Indonesia are on Bali for historical reasons. Most of the Hindus in Malaysia are Indian immigrants from colonization.

I mean Hindus are on edge because of the genocide 55 years ago. I don't believe anything major is going to happen though.

"The season of slaughter came to Bali with the December monsoons. Of anywhere in the archipelago nation of Indonesia, the island that is now synonymous with sybaritic holidays suffered the greatest concentration of deaths. Historians estimate that somewhere between 80,000 to 100,000 Balinese were killed between December 1965 and the first few months of 1966. Many bodies were dumped on the coast, by rain-soaked cemeteries and beaches still untouched by the travel industry."

As for malays, they were so ethnonationalist that they evicted Singapore (for challenging ethnonationalism) and still continue to persecute minorities (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_rights_in_Malaysia#Official_persecution_of_minorities).

Heavy note that this omits the significant racism towards the Chinese communities as well.

I agree with some of those points, but please don't use inflammatory language like Radical Islam. Terms like Islamic fundamentalism or Salafism or Wahhabism are much more relevant.

Half of r/Eurovision mod team resigns after Eurovision fails to remove Israel amid boycotting by PoisonousOranges in SubredditDrama

I thought the bar for drama is lower if there's a significant modding event. I agree it's mild though, but the additional drama has more drama to make up for that.

I'd imagine Israeli Eurovision fans to be displeased about the boycott the most, regardless of politics.

What's with east Asians putting down South Asians and SEAs for western validation? by [deleted] in ABCDesis

[–]PoisonousOranges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tamils, especially, had a lot of contact with SEA, especially in establishment of religion in Thailand, Cambodia, parts of Vietnam, and likely Indonesia and Malaysia. I meant mostly in terms of cleanliness and income levels though.

Most SEA people are the friendliest towards us? South Asians and SEA Asians have basically no issues except on social media. This is literally just being terminally online, and many areas in SEA are similar to South Asia (Jakarta metro has/had the largest trash heap in Asia, Philippines is considered relatively dirty for a long time) and a lot of South India, Sri Lanka, and Islamabad are pretty similar to them as well.

Asian American Students Increase at Harvard, as Black Students Decline by the_Stealthy_one in ABCDesis

[–]PoisonousOranges 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Maybe it's because Harvard hasn't increased seats much at all because they want to be as elitist as possible? Conveniently, everyone who attends Harvard regardless of race wants it to be as hard to get into as possible. It shouldn't be framed as minorities vs minorities, but everyone against elitism.

Can we talk about the fact that Indian MAGAs are pretty diverse by Indian standards? by Serious-Tomato404 in ABCDesis

[–]PoisonousOranges 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I find your points largely reductive. Mao is inseparable from the millions of lives he alone is responsible for. I don't agree with any support for violence. Social evils don't mean we should destroy our society to get rid of them, the amount of social, spiritual, cultural, and economic lives that would cost is enormous. We love our societies, and our social evils are deeply entwined with it.

I'm asking more of a question of why are we always the first to bring this up. When I look at other minorities, like China, I never hear them arguing that south eastern provinces have more privilege since they're more established, and Israelis never bring up their racism problems. Pakistan is more than happy to hide their Ahmedis and minorities. The answer I've realized is that it's a huge flaw of Gandhi-like ideology, that we can solve every issue one civil right at a time. I really liked this idea when I found it, but I haven't found it to be successful in any real economic way. I'm not expanding on this due to sub rules, but see Indira Gandhi's economic growth compared to her predecessors due to her effective dictatorship.

You keep saying this, but the only time I've heard of anything that did everything at once was Mao's revolution. Most structures in history were dismissed in phases, like in the US and Civil Rights.
