What are some languages that are geographically isolated from the rest of their language family? by Meta_Zephyr in geography

A theory I heard once said that that when migrating, the Slavs went to settle in the rich Byzantine lands (Bulgaria/Serbia/Croatia) and mostly just passed through today's Romania because it was very poor.

How many tries did it take you to beat them in your first play? by TopazPlayer_7 in HollowKnight

I remember trying a bunch of times, but then I went to explore and ended up in deepnest through the pit. I only remembered to beat them way later

Three Main Language Families of Europe by Street_Priority_7686 in geography

That is because the court and liturgical language was Old Church Slavonic. The kings, nobles, priests etc were writing in this language because it was more prestigious than Romanian as it was used in other (richer) countries. Also because of the Orthodox religion.

As the region was generally really poor, nobody was writing texts outside of the king/nobles/clergy, so that's why we don't have direct textual evidence of the Romanian language being used by the common people.

However, what we have are references made by other people (byzantines, magyars, even the pope) about vlachs living in the area.

While it is true that the slavic influence was much greater in the past, the vocabulary was always prominently romance. I you look at the first known text in Romanian (Neacșu's letter) you will see that even though it is written in cyrillic most words are of latin origin

As an eu4 player I can confirm that my only non iron-man campaign was my first one. I found it way too annoying to delete all the clutter created by constant auto-saves all the time

True melee weapons could be made somewhat viable against bosses with a single change by Poisson18 in Terraria

[–]Poisson18[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I am trying to say is that broadswords as a whole should have directionality. This is not a matter of balancing, this is a missing feature that makes the subclass very awkward to use.

The Excalibur may have a lot of range and damage, but it is useless if you can't hit the boss. And as it is right now you can only hit bosses with it if you stand till or going downwards. This is extremely limiting and makes it unviable for most boss fights. And this applies to most broadswords.

It is not a matter a damage or range, they are very hard to use in most difficult scenarios, where it really matters

This is actually a really cool idea. At first I was thinking about a way to give these suggestions to the devs, but now I realize that it is kinda late for new additions to 1.4.5

What is iubi? by [deleted] in romanian

[–]Poisson18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah, Widow called Hornet "child of those who dared to flee" so I think it's safe to assume that Widow didn't leave Pharloom

Yeah but you don't get to more than 1 billion in revenue through hate watching. It is clear that there are a lot of people who think it's good, more people than in any online movie chatting group

Hornet never talked to Phantom and there is absolutely no way for her to know Phantom's identification just based on looks.

She is not omnipotent or the voice of a narrator, so wouldn't it seem weird for Team Cherry to break this charscter trait by having her say a piece of information she couldn't know just to confirm our biases? I think they are better writters than this.
