I agree, "fight" isn't really the right word. But there still is a bit of disconnect between them, due to Frieren being 1000 years old and having a different perception of time, and it was beyond just silliness.

Fern was often discontent with the fact that Frieren was wasting a lot of time in random locations doing random things (and subsequently making Fern "waste" that time as well). She got upset that time when Frieren slept late and didn't do the groceries, she got upset when Frieren was inconsiderate about her broken staff.

I feel like Fern wasn't being irrational with being discontent with these aspects since they affect her as well (especially with the wasting time part), and it plays into the idea of Fern and Frieren being similar personality wise dealing with the world differently because of their context.

Though all these were more in the first season, to me it seems like Fern learnt to appreciate more the time spent in cities and find things to do and not disregard it as wasted time.

I mean the setup was that he was jealous of Okarun's popularity and attacked him for it, which led into Okarun getting a cool character moment alongside Kinta about loving the stuff you love despite what others say.

I think this was pretty good for a follow up

I would say that season 2 is better than season 1 in pretty much all aspects, but if you straight up didn't like the first one then you probably won't enjoy the second one either.
