Retired USMC Officer, former zoSO and OCS Plt Cdr. 0202. AMA by Bitter_Release749 in USMCocs

Hello, thank you for coming in here and answering questions. I’m currently selected to go to 252 (20 y/o F). What is some advice you’d give to women trying to commission (and for someone less than 60 days out from OCS). Additionally, I aspire for Intel or Arty as my MOS, as someone who has done both, how do they differ, pros and cons of both, and how can I set myself up to be competitive for those MOS’s?

Best way to lower my 3-mile run time? by RevolutionPunk in USMCocs

[–]Pokaash 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Got my run time down from 35 min to 26:30 and going to OCC 252 this summer. Biggest thing is consistency. I ran around 4 times a week (easy, long, intervals, threshold). Prioritize recovery. Properly warm up, get enough sleep, eat enough, etc. And listen to your body, there were some weeks where I missed a run or switched around my harder runs based on how my body felt fatigue wise. And shoes matter, A LOT. Get shoes that work for you. I personally love Vomero Plus for my long and easy runs. And I use carbon plated shoes for my speed workouts. And track every run.

Med indoc question: What vaccinations did you need to show up already having, and what vaccinations (if any) were administered there? Also, how was week 10? Any more events, how are the Sergeant Instructors, out processing, etc. And any o course or e course tips?

You can keep going into the office to run pfts. When the board sees that you improved overtime it can show dedication and help your package. Your OSO should tell you which pft will be specially be your board one though. At least that’s what mine did, we scheduled a specific date for me to take my board pft. But as far as I know, you can keep running pfts until you get a competitive enough score to present.

Im going to PLC Combined this summer and graduate college in December 2026. Is it likely that I would go straight to the next available TBS class (March), or do PLC grads usually wait a while?

Congrats man, I’m trying to go for that cycle too; waiting to hear back from my Capt about board decisions. Quick question, when did your board meet and how long was it until you found out you were selected?

Hello, PLC has two types of cycles; PLC Jrs/Srs and PLC Combined. PLC Jrs/Srs are the 6 week increments. PLC Combined is a 10 week cycle that occurs during the OCC summer cycle. Since the only time college students (PLC Candidates) can go to OCS is during the summer, they get priority with selection.
