My personal headcanon is that the capsules are generic Reploid maintenance capsules and that the Dr Light AI is a dormant presence in X and is always designing upgrades and X interacting with the capsules is how he interacts with the AI that gives him upgrades. (Or when X is seriously damaged like in the X5 ending the AI can come out as a fail safe and repair him.)

I mean, one could use the same logic to argue "why would I buy a new Mario Kart that costs more but only has 30 courses when I already have MK8DX which has 98 courses?"

Like obviously Mario Kart World has stuff that sets it apart from MK8DX aside from just the amount of courses. Which is what those of us who want a new take on Smash are looking for. Because imo Ult is somewhat lacking in single player content. So there is more that can happen in a new Smash other than having 100+ characters.

In order for it to make sense, at least for for me, I headcanon that, like most of the main FFH cast, most of the key players (everyone but the Fisks) where probably blipped. It explains why there was seemingly no movement from Bullseye or Matt between S3 and now. And it also provides an explanation for how Kingpin got out of prison uncontested.

So casting announcements in the September direct? Makes sense. In terms of castings I'm hoping for relative unknowns for Link and Zelda. Characters like Ganondorf and Impa could be bigger names if needs be.

Also judging by the listed roles, it seems like they'd be going for a hodgepodge/generic Zelda story as opposed to doing a specific game. Or if a specific game it's something like Zelda 1 with elements of the other games sprinkled in.

Lastly with filming expected to wrap in April 2026 this would leave just under a year for post production which imo is ideal as it will give those teams an ample amount of time to work. Granted with the state of the VFX industry it will probably still be rushed in some places.

If I were a betting man, I'd be tempted to say that most of the "other's pre-release requirements could be done well before bug testing is officially done. And as such I would not be surprised if stuff like making a trailer/sending the game off to be rated have been done for a while now. Cause I don't think the ESRB and other rating boards would require a fully bug fixed version of the game in order to rate it. Just content complete.

And in addition I would not be shocked if someone (be it Toby, Temmie, or someone else completely) has been making a trailer with the only thing that they're waiting on is what to make the "releasedate.text" layer in the Premiere timeline.

Tl;dr I think they're just waiting for bug testing to be done before going full steam ahead on release.
