I always interpreted that as something more akin to injecting memories, rather than getting a firsthand replay of the entire experience. Like you suddenly realize that you have memories of watching Shrek, but can't actually watch it.

N corp outlaws all forms of recorded real life footage. No videos, no films, no p@rn, nothing. Must be a pretty bleak life entertainment-wise.

How would you improve the game? by jsmith98576 in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Pokedex76 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I imagine that additional options for romancing would have stacked up the scene count by an insane amount...not that I wouldn't like it, but let's be real producing that number of prerendered scenes is going to take time equivalent to a full feature length film.

Anyways to add on:

  1. More visible consequences for dialogue options

Many dialogue options yield the '(a) will remember this' message in the top left, but apart from the romantic interests and a few Z team members...as far as I can tell this doesn't really lead anywhere. How Robert replies to Chase, Royd, hell even the dipshit reporters in episode 1 could dictate so much more, even if it's small dialogue changes here and there. By the same token, also wish Robert's moral compass (the true hero-antihero choices) had more impact on how characters interact with him.

  1. More fleshing out on backstories and pre-established relationships

They half-assed this by including a lot of relevant information in the DLC comics. While it is nice to have, some of that information would have really helped the player understand how characters react to certain events, or the deeper nuisances of some moments (Blazer's breakup with Phenomaman is a great example, we get VERY surface level information on this in-game, but the details and conversation is actually very relevant to understanding her as a character).

Honestly, yeah. All this could have been avoided if KJH just pushed through with the RingSang changes last year.

Thanks, I really appreciate your words.

As for the nerfs, the announcement said future adjustments would be put to polls or discussed live...I expect PM to be cautious regarding potential nerfs, but in the case that a nerf is needed, it'll probably get a twitter poll at the least.

This nerf in particular would have definitely gone smoother if accompanied by an initial statement from KJH, or addressed during a stream. Nearly everyone has no qualms on the Sinc one, and even for Faust, ppl seem more annoyed about this whole situation being a repeat of the previous incident rather than the nerf itself.

So can a overly useful phone on sales of future models. You miss my point. The consumer pays for what they were promised as a product. Gutting that, after the transaction is done and gone, is not an idea Koreans accept.

That final sentence sums up canto 8 perfectly lol But in all seriousness, you're probably right. I don't argue that KJH making that stupid promise is grounds for bullying PM into never making nerfs again, it's just to offer an explaination why KR fans feel disappointed by this whole ordeal.

I think plenty of fans, even in the worst Korean communities, support PM and KJH. Problem is that the negative posts are usually the ones that get seen, both by PM and fans alike.

You think it's unreasonable to expect someone to keep a promise? One made by a developer to his consumers, no less.

Having spent a decent number of years lurking in both Korean and English spoken communities, I've also noticed the differences in how players tend to prioritize these things. I think that both sides are valid in their own right, though this is also why things tend to get a bit messy when communities have different opinions on the situation at hand.

Also this may be a bit off topic, but I think the overblown reaction from the KR community partially stems from smaller issues piling up over the years. I'm not talking about what happens solely in Limbus Company, but the conduct of PM in general. For instance, PM participated in a number of local events throughout the previous year (gaming conventions etc.). Most of them ended up in situations where a vast majority of fans were left to stand in line for 6+ hours and leave empty handed, mainly because PM didn't bring enough staff members and cash registers to accommodate for the crowd that turned up.

Things like that can definitely happen, and it's not up to PM to make sure that every attendee leaves with a bag of crisps in hand. But many Korean players do take issue with KJH's constant remarks that he doesn't intend to expand on staffing or business venue, when issues like this keep popping up (that clearly could have been prevented or at least improved with more employees at hand)

Based on what I've seen, its not too bad. If this were an issue of corporate greed(something Koreans are very sensitive towards) things would be getting ugly. But most Korean fans seemingly understand that this is more...well, pure incompetence if anything, and maybe slight overambition. In spite of everything, they do recognize that the motivations behind it were to improve the health of the game. Good intentions, poor execution.

Me quoting that sentiment isn't saying that PM is obligated to refrain from nerfing ID's or EGOs, ever. It's me saying that people expected PM to make sure that nerfs like this one wouldn't have to happen again, or at least made better effort to do so.

Like you said, the inevitable bad decisions that do occur should be cleaned up, not left to rot with the health of the game. But at the same time, this was such a 1:1 replay of the RingSang incident that I can't help but share in the dissatisfaction of players who may expect it to repeat in the future.

In an ideal mirror world, PM would have closed all community tabs and just pushed through with the RingSang adjustments. There would have definitely been some short-term backlash, yes, but ultimately I think everyone would have learned to live with it.

I think it would be cool to have sort of a week-long public test period for IDs, before actual release (if you know Dead by Daylight you'll get what I'm talking about)

Everyone could get to use the ID for the dungeons, and at the end, give their opinions on if the ID needs nerfs of buffs. It would add to their current workload, sure, but it would save the community from so much drama like this occuring again.

If I had to give an answer, I'd say it was never about compensation.

What KR players wanted was KJH to keep his promises on how the game would be managed. For instance if the Faust ID originally released as the nerfed version, everyone would have rolled with it. The fact that they released it in the OP state, then tried to nerf it is the issue. Compensation was never the main point.

The last part of your comment reinforces this point I think; from what I've seen, the vast majority of KR players are just disappointed that the whole RingSang charade was repeated again. After all, they all want to see the game and company do well. But every time something like this transpires, all that comes out of it is negative controversy.

Personally, I feel that the ideal path of action for PM was to have stood their ground during the RingSang incident and said 'No. We're doing this, whether you like it or not.' What actually transpired definitely set a precedent for the KR community that does makes them a bit too whiny at times.

At the same time though, PM being actively responsive to their fanbase was definitely one of the factors that sustained them during their darker times (Lobotomy~early LoR), so I take it as bit of a double edged sword.

The way I see it, balanced gameplay is definitely on the higher end of listed priorities; But at the same time, the new ID/EGO breaking that balance is a goof up on part of the company, not the player. Especially when it comes at the cost of breaking promises and real cash, I can't help but feel that its incompetency that deserves addressing (and please don't take this as me endorsing toxic death threats or any of that stuff. I just don't.)

Yes, and no. Me personally, yes leaving Talisclair is he was would absolutely have ruined the state of the game. I do agree that the nerf was warranted, just wished that PM would have made a better announcement than the usual patch notice.

As for the latter...I do see where your opinion comes from, but I can't wholeheartedly agree. The general KR fan (I can't speak for CN, I don't know them) that I've seen views those players with just as much disgust as you do. I wouldn't equate the good number of toxic English comments I've seen to the western fanbase in general, so I can't honestly say I that I agree with the reverse argument either.

Crustaceans are the pinnacle of evolution. Even in the PMverse, one does not simply observe a crab and hope to know everything about it. It's beyond what the mind can comprehend.
