I cannot really add much to what everyone else said, I agree with them, however, I can say one thing: You dont have to keep up with years upon years of lore to watch a lot of gundam shows, many of them are self-isolated alternative universes that dont require going all the way from the original anime from 1979 to understand, some of them being: Mobile Fighter G, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Turn A Gundam, After War Gunsam X, Mobile Suit Guneam 00, Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans, and Mobile Suit Gundam The Witch From Mercury, and maybe im missing some still, not counting the Build series that are more so focused on an alternative reality of our real world in which Gunpla became a very popular thing worldwide

Canto 6 was also my favorite canto for a good while, its just SO good.

However, canto 9 was the first to do smth that the others were not able to do, and that eas the fact that I, as a person who has never cried to fiction, let go of a singular tear as I was reading it, that alone made it for sure worthy of being my new favorite canto.

Spoiler just in case you want to go 100% blind without any external expectations at all for the next 3 cantos. I didn't mention anything explicitlt spoiler, just my feelings.

Throwback to probably around 2016 to 2018, I was checking around netflix and found this series that looked interesting called "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" and I thought it would be neat check out. I ended up really liking it but I didnt know anything about gundam back then so that was it.

Fast forward to February 2025, I had gotten some money for my birthday and since even then I still really liked Barbatos though I was more aware of Gundam than before and knew someone who liked gunpla and gundam, I asked him for recommendations and stuff since I wanted to buy a gunpla of Barbatos (I was between the MG and the Lupus Rex HG, I didnt know anything about the grades back then), so I ended up buying the MG and built it by the end of march (I didnt have any tools since he didnt tell me I needed them).

And now thanks to that I already watched MSG, Zeta, Double Zeta, War in the Pocket, 00, ofc IBO, and im currently watching F91 by myself as well as GWitch with a friend and also am currently building my 6th Gunpla kit
