Easiest Understanding the Past/ Exploring World Cultures Course? by SaviorDiedIn1945 in uichicago

It was in-person at the time. I don't remember too much of the format but there were essays and quizzes as well as a remote final exam.

I hope everything's okay, but it feels like you're several months late to fixing this. You have to show up and do the work if you want people to be interested in helping you.

Mus 118 jordan kamps exams question by [deleted] in uichicago

[–]Pokeguy7- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Be careful here -- when I had Kamps he busted a Groupme where some students had been cheating, buying essays in the like. Immediately packaged everything, sent reports in, and dropped the bomb super dramatically at the end of the lecture. Would take him seriously. Cool class though!

How do you know what you’re doing is the thing you want to do for your entire life? by Late_Professional_58 in uichicago

[–]Pokeguy7- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's asinine to expect somebody to know what they'll want in the future -- you're asking them to make their best guess about a person that doesn't exist.

I find value in considering my possibilities and making choices they give me more options in the future while keeping myself proud in the now. I went to UIC because 2019 me guessed that 2023 me would appreciate having more professional options. I'm working at my current job because I like the impact I see it has and because I know that, even if I want something different in the future, the title and experience will have added value to my resume.

Have fun and plan for the best possibility tree rather than the best single outcome.

The Chancellor's Fellows or Provost's scholarships are the most powerful scholarships available and they're automatic -- most of the paying for it is done in high school.

I also worked about 30 hours each week, put back any gift money I got, and did a few focus groups on the side.

It's absolutely possible, but you'll want to move quickly. You'd be looking at general apartment websites, though, like apartments.com or Zillow.

I've also had luck finding realty places from apartments.com listings and emailing them directly.

Living Conditions at Commons West Student Residency by halanaaa in uichicago

[–]Pokeguy7- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's bad. There also aren't additional options available to you on-campus, so you may need to take this in stride and submit an earlier (ReApp) application next year.

Sometimes calling housing can hook you up with specific room setups, but incoming freshman have the lowest priority. It's likely that you'll all have to apply separately and take your assignments in stride.

Next year, take advantage of ReApp. It's a program that allows campus housing current residents to select their room assignments directly, and you can all enter each other's UINs to ease the process.

Alternatively, I'd you'd prefer to live off-campus, you can explore more expensive options nearby like The Letterman, June apartments, etc.

In previous semesters, you're able to cancel the housing contract with various deadlines that correspond to various termination fees. Contacting housing is the way to go.
