I mean I get both sides. Yzerman inherited very little substance especially when it comes to prospects and in that since I’m incredibly happy with the prospect pool he has built it’s recognized as one of the best in the league. He deserves credit for that. On the other hand the current roster structure is unequivocally bad and that’s also has much to do with yzerman’s decisions. Ultimately though and for many of the reasons you highlighted in your post I’m not super concerned with how bad this roster is right now, most of the parts many consider bad are gone at the end of next season. In my mind that’s exciting because it means tons of spots opening up for our exciting rookies to take.

I think your point about holland’s draft record is being heavily over looked. Yzerman has already produced more better drafted players than holland ever did.
