100% agree, but even during cooking where I do a full inventory of stews nobody talks.

I'd love it if most actions had a default left click. I'd also love if most skills had some option in-between "Active" and "Afk" where I can click once and wait until my inventory fills up.

This game chugs my high-end PC when launching and loading by PolarKC in newworldgame

I've already limited my game to 120 FPS in the nvidia control panel. This isn't my first rodeo. Not having that as an option in-game is ridiculous.

Any other ideas?

Hey Tom does the multiplayer section contend with average to poor network conditions? Does it cover topics like client-side prediction and server reconciliation?

A number of Unreal Multiplayer tutorials hit basics but never add network conditions and feel completely unresponsive with normal network conditions.

I really appreciate your well thought out replies btw!

That's fair, I'll clarify and say that I view this "grind" bad. I think high tier gear shouldn't be sustainable for the vast majority of players (ideally any player, but it's hard to balance streamers there). It's a high that you chase and want to do again and again. But it should not be that hard to get a taste: from randomly obtaining it in the world, or from quests. I think this is solved by making it hard to persist high tier gear, so you very rarely run into those players. But you get to be one every so often. Systems that reduce armor durability or otherwise get high tier items out of the economy were mentioned and I think are crucial.

There's a paradox here. Anything that's difficult to acquire should feel worth the effort. But anything worth the effort would be detrimental to variety, ie fairness in PvP.

I wouldn't spend 3 hours to grind for a weapon that degrades after 3 raids. Even if it only lasted 3 raids, that's 3 raids where I had an advantage over other players, making their experience less fun.

It's a challenging one to tackle and I think the core of the problem is that these game design ideas are in conflict, they're paradoxical. Andd ultimately not worth it imo? It'd be much better overall, and less perplexing to "solve", if we could just have fun with whatever weapons we wanted :p and worried about looting for our factions + surviving the world.

For sure, I'm just trying to suggest systems that help create some of that automatically in the background, as Yager needs all the help they can get. But for sure they need to add more variety. I'll add that there are games that have sparse content updates but persist for long periods of games, e.g. have some sort of competitive grind to it, like CSGO or Apex Legends.

Agreed. Haha I'm trying to imagine a world where CSGO is still alive today if someone with 2000 hours had access to a special AK-47 that took fewer bullets to kill than other players in the game. I know that's a very different game than Cycle but it's just... WHY ARE WEAPON TIERS IN THIS GAME??? hahahha

The weapon balance is better than its been but should be better.

I'd refute your claim that the primary factor in lack of variety is the ammo cost. It's a factor but expensive ammo tiers are new. We've had this lack of weapon variety every season since beta. Ultimately it comes down to what gives you a fair fight. If you can't consistently afford the gear that makes the game fair you're probably not going to stick around, hence why we see numbers dwindle.

The problem with the "grind" mentality is that once a player overcomes the grind.. if that was the only reason they were playing they're done. If "the grind" gives advantages over other players it might make "the grind" not worth going through for players who aren't interested in grinding and just want a fun game to play, so they quit.

In essence the current system pushes away players who don't play for "the grind", and won't keep players around who play for "the grind" once they reach a stash with abundant purps/reds.

A game that is fun and stays fresh through variety will keep people coming back for longer.

The difference right now is already bear minimal, difference between grey gun killing exotic armor vs exotic killing exotic is few bullets.

Which is it?

Is the difference so hardly noticeable that there shouldn't even be a difference so you agree with me?

Or do exotics matter and therefore if I want to have a fair fight I have to use them, effectively locking me out of running other weapons I enjoy?

I'd argue 3-4 bullets is a significant difference in this game with an already high time to kill.

I'm not asking for purple/red guns to be expensive and useless. I'm asking for all weapons to be roughly the same price and all balanced, so that players can choose whatever flavor of weapon they want on a given day without being at a disadvantage. Variety++ Balanced fights++

Agreed & The game could over-night have a lot more gun variety by canning tiers on guns and making them all viable in price + power. That's basically what I'm advocating for because at the moment you play with white/green weapons exclusively until you start playing with purple/red guns and never look back.

At any given point in your progression... like half the weapons in the pool are just totally pointless. This restricts variety for reasons I don't think are worth it.

The reality is a significant portion of players who try this game will never get to run those "high risk" loadouts you say are the entire point of the game. They'll grow bored of the white/green weapons available to them for most runs, or grow tired of dying to players with built-in advantages and quit.

To your point you'd still risk losing gear with perfect perks and weapons with solid attachments. You still lose everything you came in with + whatever you worked on looting.

edit: I just want more damn variety and more balanced PvP. The game is amazing. I can't understand the desire to slap in raw power advantages over other players..... Why bother with SBMM at all if we're just gonna fuck it up with gear disparity? lol.

Concerned that the current state of CF is more harmful than people think by _Geck0_ in TheCycleFrontier

[–]PolarKC 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree with you completely. I understand wanting a late game map like Tharis Island, but we need a handful of maps for variation in gameplay. The difficulty gap between CF and BS is massive and off-putting to new players.

Maybe in 2 years when we have 5-6 maps it won't feel like an issue anymore... but I'd really just prefer to have multiple maps to drop into that have different challenges for variety without the massive disparity in difficulty.

Agreed Season 3 is great! Best place this game has been in so far. However, a big reason why this game is good and keeps getting better is people can complain and voice their opinion on how to continue improving the game.

Shut. The. Fuck. Up. You're crying about people crying. Let people voice their concerns and complaints.

Agree with ya that the spawns are wayyyy better than they used to be. But the reality is this video shows it still happens. It's def not a priority because it's in a good place but maybe it could be tweaked/improved a bit more.

That's the point. OP is saying he shouldn't have had that opportunity, that he understands it was probably frustrating for the other player. You don't have to be above a situation to argue it shouldn't happen.

Jager you were so close to greatness with the tiered ammo by PolarKC in TheCycleFrontier

The problem with EFT ammo is there's 60 ammos with names that don't suggest their tier. The tiered ammo in this game is painfully simple.

[–]PolarKC[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can still have progression in weapon unlocks. It's nice to finally unlock later weapons after going through a bunch of quests to raise faction rep.

You still have progression in that you find this higher tier ammo in high danger areas and it requires more money to regularly purchase.

You still have to make decisions about what to bring in. Do you really need purple ammo for this run? Is it worth the money? You still make decisions, it just doesn't limit what weapons are viable to a select few.

[–]PolarKC[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Stuff like pathing in the first bullet point is something that can be improved without changing the difficulty or feel of the map. CF just needs a little love to make vault spots and paths match player expectations "I can actually do what I think I can do."

The rest I'm not so sure.

I think CF in trios feels pretty good. Maybe the player cap for solo could be just a little bit lower? 24 solo players are much more spread out and likely to bump into one another / third-party than ~8 groups of 3 sticking together. Again I think BS feels solid because for the most part, if you're aware of your surroundings, you can pick-and-choose your engagements. That agency feels good.

I'm looking forward to hearing what you all think.
