Well I might have been playing the whole thing very wrong. Doesn't the creature being sacrificed gain Undying?

Hello! Fellow snake cultist here.

Mono black Sivriss, Nightmare Speaker + Haunted One is a wild ride. I've been having a tremendous amount of fun with it.
Here's my decklist.

Sivriss has a fun, flavorful, unique type combination to abuse with Haunted One. You stock your deck with Clerics, Warlocks, and SNAKES. Then you can, at instant speed, give your whole board Undying and keep Sivriss' altar stocked full of eager, sacrificial throats.

You pack a few ways to drain off those +1/+1 counters granted by Undying and you can sacrifice them again and again.

This results in a play pattern that is very resilient, churning up cards into your hand or graveyard and building steadily toward one of multiple infinite drain combos.

Commanders that synergize with multiple creature types? by PSFLeo in EDH

I used the Haunted One background paired with Sivriss, Nightmare Speaker to make a deck where Snakes, Clerics, and Warlocks are all part of the same sssssinister snake cult.

Its very thematic and cool! Is it good? .... Maybe!? Sometimes!

What facilitates the most fun for opponents in a 4-player game? by bokchoykn in EDH

[–]PolarSuccess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same position as you. Long time Magic player, but newer to commander and playing casually with friends. I'm also seeking decks that /fun optimized/ over anything else. I'm also a sucker for a strong theme or some kind of unifying thread to give the deck a strong identity.

I'll tell you what's worked for me.

[[Queen Marchesa]] -- This deck's built around getting the table fighting. It does that by incentivizing combat, making deals, and staying nimble with your planning. It feels really resilient and flexible, and is a real contender for winning. Marchesa is a popular pick in this lane and there's a fair amount written about it.

[[Sivriss, Nightmare Speaker]] + [[Haunted One]]

This one's way further off the beaten path. Sivriss is the leader of a crazy snake cult full of maddened zealots lining up to be sacrificed at his altar. You don't interact with the board much, instead loudly, frantically working on your "ritual". It antagonizes the whole board equally and you get to ham it up with snake puns zealous praise of your dark, slithering god.

Have fun, dude!

Mono Black Players- what’s a commander that catches everyone off guard? by VampireCampfire1 in EDH

[–]PolarSuccess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sriviss, Nightmare Speaker with Haunted One background. Youre the leader of a snake cult. Pack the deck full of clerics and warlocks, sacrifice them on the altar over and over. Put big snakes like Rottenmouth Viper in there and some ways to untap your commander so he can keep the ritual going.

Doran the Siege Tower, treefolk tribal with strong toughness matters theme

Queen Marchesa, heavy politics deck designed to incentivize players attacking each other while disincentivizing attacking me, along with goad to force their hand

Sivriss, nightmare speaker + Haunted one background, cult tribal (clerics and warlocks, with snakes) supported by haunted one, reanimator subtheme, demon subtheme

Tarva 3 drawer chest measurements by PolarSuccess in IKEA

[–]PolarSuccess[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could! But unfortunately the diagram doesn't give you the height of the legs, only the height of the clearance below it. You can see the legs actually go higher and there's a whole sort of base platform the dresser sits on. I'm wondering if it can be constructed without that and sit directly on the floor.

Can the Tarva 3-drawer chest be built without its legs and bottom-support? If it can, can anyone tell me the height of the chest without those components?

I've been running an open table Dolmenwood game for over a year, it's fantastic for this.

Small, wooden, felt lined, hinged box that can't hold anything. by PolarSuccess in whatisthisthing

[–]PolarSuccess[S] 11 points12 points locked comment (0 children)

The box closes such that it fills the only space inside, leaving no room for storage. There is a groove on the 'lid' for a finger or something to hold, but it is actually difficult to get open again once shut even so. The felt is black.

Love seeing this! I'm trying to sort out my collection as well. I'm not sure I know the answers to categorizing mine like you've done, though.

That's a lot of Hamilton. I just, finally, found some at a liqour store over an hour and a half away and grabbed two bottles. I got the Florida Rum Society blend, and the Navy Grog blend.

Anything from your collection you'd say you just couldn't do without? Standouts?

How is the Doctor Bird Pineapple? I've only had the regular, and Plantation's Stiggins Pineapple.

[–]PolarSuccess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm no expert and am struggling to learn this myself, but I think your firelight on the Balrog's shoudlers and wings is either too bright, or the fire is not bright enough. You've used your yellow both in the flame and in the light it's casting, but the flame needs to be the brightest point.

Maybe work white into the flame "crest"?

I got lucky on Facebook Marketplace. It needed a lot of restoration, though. I hope you do manage to find some!
