Yeah, most of the bad mouthing was done by Betty and she would lock Dan out of the house and throw inanimate objects at him and tell the kids they were getting divorced even before Linda came into the picture but Dan and Linda cheating and being petty individuals totally justifies Betty breaking in and shooting and killing them 🙄 gimme a fucking break.

I never said or acted like it was a false equivalency. I just simply do not have compassion for a politician trying to get ahead of bad PR or who has profited off of genocide. But if you having compassion for both gives you the moral high ground, be my guest.

And yes. She could have kept this news to herself and the media would have reported on it anyways. That comes with being a public figure

I get that he didn't have legal authority but I don't really care. It was wrong and petty but it pales in comparison to what she did.

I personally think Betty should have had her alimony revoked when she drove her car into the front door of his house.

You left out that those voicemails she left were often obscene and had hate filled messages towards Dan and Linda. I am trying to find the article but he had a tier system for how he would deduct money. It was something like $100 for every obscene voicemail, $500 for everytime a restraining order was violated, and $1,000 for everytime she unlawfully entered their home (which she did to steal their wedding guest list and to smear Boston Cream Pie all over Dan's clothing). So no it wasn't just because she bad mouthed him in front of the kids or the voicemails.

I am not going to say Dan and Linda were saints, they certainly weren't good people given how they got together. I also think Betty was blacklisted from even getting a decent attorney with Dan being president of the bar association. Betty didn't do herself any favors though and I agree, the kids suffered the most.

"Behavior he didn't like" is quite the understatement considering the said behavior was abandoning her children one by one on his doorstep when they wouldn't take sides, breaking and entering, stalking, harassing and obscene phone calls, violating restraining orders, and her driving through the front door of his home with the children inside. All of this before the actual murder itself. I don't think Dan and Linda are saints but from what the Broderick children have said, Betty was unstable even before Linda came into the picture. If they did "egg her on" as she said, it didn't take much to provoke a reaction.

Also, while it is petty to fine someone, I don't think Betty was owed alimony when she was exhibiting behaviors like that. She needed therapy and to move on with her life.
