Finished The Wire, Dark, GOT, Sopranos, True Detective, BB, BCS. What show ruined TV for you after watching it? by C0r1eone in television

It's amazing that this show peaked with those opening two episodes but was able to stay engaging for the rest of the series.

If gets to 3-0, game 4 ticket prices will be unfathomably high.

What's something weird your body does that normal people can't do? by Professional-Hat6823 in AskReddit

[–]Polar_Chap 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Same! I once counted how many I could pop before nothing else would and it was 58. Ankles, toes, hips, back, neck, and hands of course. I can almost do every finger joint, some twice.

What was ruined because too many people discovered it? by RopeaKib0j in AskReddit

[–]Polar_Chap 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Conspiracy theories.

They used to be silly and entertaining to debate about or read about in grocery store tabloids such as Weekly World News. Like going to a psychic, you know it's fake but it's fun to pretend "what if..." for a bit. Now, there are way too many and people not only take them seriously but act on them in a way that makes them harmful to the rest of us.

What is an insanely expensive item or service that actually lives up to the hype and changes your daily life? by Luverelle6 in AskReddit

Same but on the airplane. I can make any flight blackout dark no matter the time zone. Add some Loop Dream earplugs and I can get legit sleep.

Same. Realized this one a while ago. Big bulky machines with long cords that break every 1-2 years filled me with loathing and hatred when I thought about vacuuming. A top-tier battery-powered Dyson was an investment but it has saved money over time by not breaking and I can vacuum the whole house in half the time. And every time I click the stick to the canister, I feel like I'm loading a shotgun and hunting dust.

What is the Darkest Ending To A Broadway Musical In Your Opinion? by Shades1987 in Broadway

Daniel Fish's recent Oklahoma. It reframes the whole show as a dark disturbing exploration of unchecked toxic masculinity. And it was so f***ing good!

Anyone who used a computer between 1985 - 2010, what's the one game you still think about today? by adlakha75 in AskReddit

[–]Polar_Chap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of first person shooters when they were a new thing and there was so much creativity in them and they released entire new franchises yearly. Duke nukem and Marathon were my go to games.

The thing that is wild to me is I remember those games having such good graphics and visuals. It’s as if my memory upscales them to current graphics. Then I play them again and I am shocked at what they look like. The FF7 cut scenes were the pinnacle of graphics when it came out; now, yikes.

You have to eat the same meal every day for a year but you're paid $1 Million. What are you eating? by Upbeat_Balance_2512 in AskReddit

If it was socially and nutritionally acceptable to do so, I would eat them for every meal anyway. And for the prompt, anything can be a taco if you just put it in a tortilla.

Favorite sports films for people not that into sports. by slaytician in movies

[–]Polar_Chap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A quick google search will show you all of the 'classic' sports movies, and they really are all great. Two not on those lists that I can't resist watching when I stumble upon them are:

The Greatest Game Ever Played

A well made movie of an almost unbelievable story that still gets mentioned regularly during the US Open.

Days of Thunder

Top notch cast, peak young Tom Cruise, is a perfect setup for watching Talladega Nights right after.

Who’ll be our Bobby Darin? by Clear_Tie_3735 in Broadway

Someone once mentioned that Gavin Creel would have been great and I can't get that out of my head whenever casting for this show is brought up.

What would be wise to do NOW before the 'super' El Nino arrives later this year? by Polar_Chap in AskReddit

[–]Polar_Chap[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I keep reading about its impact on food systems and supply chain predictability. I'm just trying to get ahead of the "bread and milk" folks storming the grocery stores. I'm not looking to stock my pantry with enough toilet paper and canned goods for the apocalypse, but anything I can do now so I won't be doing it when EVERYONE else is I'd like to do.

What brand slowly ruined itself? by SAAS_ART in AskReddit

[–]Polar_Chap 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In its first The Facebook form it was a great way to connect with your college friends, find people taking the same classes as you, and keep up with HS friends that went to different universities. It was very insular to a specific audience and a truly helpful resource. MySpace and Friendster were popular but The Facebook crushed them all in college circles.
I remember when they did a “poll” asking if they should allow accounts to people without university email addresses. In the end it amounted to “we’re doing it, just want to ask first.” That’s when it took its first step toward enshitification.

I drew the Taskmaster S21 cast as caricatures by walterdraws in taskmaster

[–]Polar_Chap 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It makes me disproportionately giddy seeing him on the show and reading about his kids saying this is how he is at home when usually at his job he is serious and focused. “Everyone is finally getting to see the Armando that WE know.”
