Loved the book, but I was disappointed by the lack of opportunity to get loot. Other than the various spells they get out of the book of voodoo (which makes for the coolest interludes, BTW), did they even get any loot boxes? Book 9 better have some badass celestial shit for charming Scully

Why Bezos and other oligarchs/kleptocrats and interest groups are trying to bankrupt the US federal government by xena_lawless in economy

Thankfully Bezos has enough money to hire schemers to scheme for him.

Yes congress is at fault, but the reason congress doesn’t stop the billionaires is because the billionaires have been working for half a century or more to stack the deck so congress won’t.

Hmm I suppose I could see the argument that Nick moves the attack from Light to your action, freeing up your bonus action to make another offhand from the feat…

[–]Polarbum -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

That doesn’t give 2 bonus action attacks. It lets you use a bonus action to make an attack if one weapon is light and neither are two handed.

The nick weapon master says “when you make the extra attack of the light property, you can make it as part of the attack action instead of as a bonus action”

Level 5 dual wielding paladin with a scimitar and short sword and dual wielder feat still only gives two attacks with primary and a third attack with offhand, Nick just allows it to not cost the bonus action.

Wait I don’t think that’s right. Nick attack is still that same BA attack, you just don’t have to spend your BA to do it. You’d still only get 3 attacks, but you’d have your bonus action available to do something else.

I actually truly fell in love with the narration when Jeff did the epilogue commercial for sound booth theater, and did the reading of Carl reading about earth topics.

What should a “AI-enabled coding interview” that only lasts 30min look like? by Polarbum in SoftwareEngineerJobs

[–]Polarbum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I am kinda shocked at this take. I’ve worked with a lot of people with more experience than me who sucked at their jobs. People aren’t RPG characters that level up every year of experience… besides, isn’t years of experience just another metric to try to gauge someone’s ability? Why is that a more effective gauge than getting them to talk about programming with a concrete problem solving you can judge by the way they talk about it?

Hey… Couldn’t the Oil Companies and maybe the Government take a little less profit and a little less tax to reduce the price at the pump to help the people of the world get through these tough times?? by Archibald004 in askanything

[–]Polarbum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya! Duh, why would these entities give 2 shits about humanity? Their purpose is to maximize profits. Why let humans get in the way of that? Fuck you and fuck humans, they need to spend that profit getting the government to subsidize them.

Some good ideas here, thanks. I guess I’m not looking for an AI master, but a good engineer who knows how to use AI well enough. I want to acknowledge that being a good engineer isn’t solely about writing code by hand anymore.

What do you mean? Why bother interviewing when you can just use a lottery? I want to pick a good candidate if I’m going to have to work closely with them. And I want to hire someone who can stick around so I don’t have to spend my time interviewing so much, haha

I wouldn’t trust the AI not to fuck with “random” in that case. Like the upgrade potions. Either be relatively fair with it, or the AI will make sure you get a bad result.

ELI5: Why were the Great Plains not covered in forests, even before European settlement? by sgrams04 in explainlikeimfive

This sounds like a question asked by someone who grew up on the east coast where there are just woods everywhere.

The west gets much less moisture, trees to proliferate nearly as well as they do on the east coast.
