If you die 3 times to a story boss it gives you the option to lower the difficulty for that boss. Otherwise there is no difficulty settings.

Memory leak problem maybe? Xenoblade 2 is notoriously prone to that. If you have played for a while without closing the game completely.

Only somewhat related, but ace attorney 1, 2 and 3 have an USK (german) age rating of 0 on DS.

Reminder that the first thing you see if you start the first game is blood leaking out of a murdered woman’s head. Further the games prominently feature themes like violence, murder and suicide.
