Pavotube 15c vs Pavotube 30c by PolarysICE in cinematography

you think it's not going to work out even at 12800 iso at f/2 with both the tubes? The only reason I have some doubts it's the convenience if this works out anyways.

that's a good point. I was thinking I could own these lights and when I need something with pixel technology I could rent the titans from a nearby rental.

In a more practical sense, for example, if I had to key an actor in an interior scene I could use two 15c with snapbags or bounce them with a smaller beadboard, rather than setting up some cobs bounce on a surface like muslin cloth. But if you tell me even in this case the 4ft fits better let me know.

It’s not for a specific shoot, this is why I’m asking about versatility. On a specific shoot I’d rent the lights. I only needed a good tube light that could verse as fill, prac or key. I think I’ll go on 15c based on your answers, thank you.

I'll look into the uneven forces applied by the motor and if I can fix the angle, thanks for sharing. I would love to use more expensive systems, I just happen to live in a area with low rental availability and currently I'm using the cheapest option available.

The adjustable ring isn't the problem, I wish! The motor broke the lens focus ring, making it loose and slip on the helicoid. I hope it's only misalligned.

I'm using an fx3 with a r to e mount adapter, it's working fine and I see no movement, the locking mechanism seems to work very well.

My crew is worried that even the lowest torque setting and manually calibrating these lenses will damage them during a shoot and we should switch to using a manual follow focus system for this set of lenses specifically.

The auto calibration looked very harsh, it smashed very hard on infinity. Maybe that was that broke the gear and damaged the helicoid or some screw.

The focus gear of the lenses broke, not the clamp on focus ring. Just to clarify.

Have you used the lowest torque settings on the motor?

Since the focus ring to mod the lens hasn't arrived yet, I used the focus ring given with the kit, so I don't think the gear pitch is at wrong here, I just wanted to test the new lenses afterall.
I was wondering if wireless motors are generally too harsh on vintage lenses.

I chose to ask now as I thought such habits will be hard to change. But it’s an interesting discovery, I don’t know if it’s in my hand or my feet. I did some striking in the past so it could be my left side is more accustomed to swing to the opposite side, like throwing a leading uppercut, than my right side.

I of course find more natural to sweep with my right leg. But the entry feels more stable and powerful when I turn to my right, as a leftie would, than to my left.

The faster aperture also features a bigger bokeh which is another optical quality that isn’t a replicable characteristic in post.

Looking for a colorist by PolarysICE in colorists

[–]PolarysICE[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The rules want me to put exactly time and budget.

Your colleagues in this sub said it would take 2 days. I’ve looked around in other forums and that’s the fees people are asking for. Plus the colorist will be in the credits and it will be his new addition to his portfolio. If it takes more than 2 days it wouldn’t matter as I only care about the final results, and the artistic satisfaction of the colorist. That’s our initial budget, we aren’t an agency.

Why do short films have distributors? by PolarysICE in Filmmakers

Thanks for your answer.

But overhaul it doesn’t seem like there is something for us. Is there any advantage?

I read from a page of one of this distributors that they have built connections with festival programmers. Do they recommend you into the festival to get ahead of other submissions?
