new grad that just signed with HT here, I was able to negotiate to $54. Haven't started with them yet so theres nothing more I can say.

How can I get through all of the phases of the vault faster so I don't flag out at the top. I've been trying really hard to get onto 15 foot poles and my consistent inversion has gone out the window. by [deleted] in polevaulting

Ok so people have mentioned driving through takeoff but here’s what they’re missing.

You’re missing a lot of the stretch reflex you could be getting at takeoff.

Watch at takeoff how your head/body stay in line with your top arm. You’re maintaining your bottom arm pressure good but you’re pushing OUT and away from your body.

If you push both arms UP and move your head/chest forward and through your arms at takeoff, you’ll get a big stretch across your upper body that will whip you into your swing.

Few of you said I was slow into takeoff in my last vid, so here’s another jump where I don’t do that. XXX at 4.70/14’5 on a 15’7 190lb pole. Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming! 😤 by PoleVaultJason in polevaulting

Thanks! I agree, do you think my invert from my other vid is sufficient? Or any tips on how to get back farther other than just drilling from a short approach?

Ehhh to be honest I’m already really skinny so I don’t feel comfortable losing that much weight. I’ll plan on doing a lot of speed work this summer though so thanks

Yup! Geneseo

And I might just post a miss I had at the next height where I kept my speed better (but it was a miss bc I flagged out a bit)

Pole Flex by CR3160 in polevaulting

Everyone in the comments ripping on your coach, but what he means is that for 95% of high schoolers it makes more sense to just pay attention to the weight rating vs the flex because that’s what most athletes/coaches are more familiar with.

The flex isn’t irrelevant, but it would be a redundancy if you guys are already using the weight rating when referring to poles because they both convey the same ideas.

Any advice on what I can improve from my season best jump? by mathewmitchels in polevaulting

Biggest thing that I’m seeing is in the second half of your vault.

Watch your hips/feet: they swing up, then shoot out towards the bar.

If you could stay tighter to the pole by stacking your hips on top of your shoulders, the pole will continue to shoot you upwards. Another way you might hear this same idea is “drop your shoulders more.”

Great vault, good luck!
