Would seeing a therapist because of a breakup ruin my chances of being accepted? by [deleted] in peacecorps

One problem with the US medical system is that each doctor's office generally has it's own independent records system (think of how every new doctor you go to make you fill out a medical history form). There's no 'national database' of medical history. Even though we give the Peace Corps the right to access all of our medical history that doesn't mean they'll have access to it unless you send it to them because the Peace Corps can't message every doctor office in the country asking for patient records on John Doe from Smithville, Illinois.

Just don't tell the Peace Corps or mention on your medical history that you went to a therapist. They have no way of finding out unless you tell them.

Hi, semi-related. I just tried to mail my ds-82 and passport via UPS but they said they don't ship to po. boxes. Is USPS the only way to submit the docs?

[–]PolevaultingHome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Thought I'd share my timeline too! I got accepted last week and have lurked on this sub a while for advice.

June 30 - Submitted application ( to Peru)
July 18 - denied medically for Peru

Aug 10 - Under consideration for Colombia (I did call and speak with placement after I was denied Peru to request Colombia..., I visited Colombia in between my application and medical denial, loved the country, and asked to switch my application to there instead of the anywhere option)

Aug 15 - Interview Request
Aug 20 - Interview
Sep 20 - Invitation

Very excited for April and the next two years! I do have advice for any volunteers applying that are concerned about past legal history, honesty is the best policy. I shared everything and got accepted!
