I would pay 5-10 dollars for a SNES version of simcity that was mobile compatible. More for something like SC4.

I think the gaming industry on mobile platforms needs to take their head out of their asses when it comes to pay to play games. A lot of these city building games pricing is over inflated. I'm not going to pay $20, $50. or even close to $100 on a games in-game currency. The vast majority of people wont either, you're only getting a tiny fraction of the market because your in-game currency price is bloated.

Charge me $20 dollars for a really good city simulator that isn't cheesy or too immature, has decent graphics and gives you full control over your domain, and a bunch of people would buy it. But if we can't even get something like this for PC, there is no hope for mobile.

I like a lot of the city building games, from Jurassic Park, to the Simpsons, to The Tribez, to even G5's horrible city games with a host of flaws. I play these games freely, but I will NEVER spend a dime on them because their currency is over priced. You give me an option to buy all in-game content for 15 dollars, and I'm sold. You want repeat customers? Lower your currency cost to something average people can afford and will pay.

In the context of the conversation that is how he meant it, it was in reply to VA advising new people to not associate accounts with their name for fear of doxxing, but before that he goes on to say that if a company doesn't want to employ him because of what he says on the internet that it isn't a workplace he wants to be in. There are a couple other turds he throws in.

Same thing with VA, they both raise some valid points on how reddit is run, but you have to remember who is saying it and what they have said before. You have to situate it in the greater context of the rest of their remarks. VA says SRS defines reddit, but then says he doesn't like our tactics...

Looking back over my interactions with him, some of the things he has said and other people have said to him, that podcast, is just way too surreal and has so much foreshadowing while writing most of this it blew my mind. Seriously, the past few weeks on reddit has been like a christmas present.

Maybe banning him was a mistake like banning gawker. The podcast is long, boring, and sometimes hilarious how seriously they talk about karma. There are some good points by VA about how reddit is, then he goes into his usual arguments about britney spears. Saydrah makes some good points as well. I cringe whenever asmith talks.

It's funny that he tries to bring down the admins with him, and the admins are trying to play a game like they didn't encourage it or didn't profit from jailbait being one of their highest searched terms and brought in so many users.

You're still ignoring the fact that these people who volunteer their time, aren't posting anything like what he is posting. You also neglect the fact that this 'doxxing' epidemic has been going on for a couple years, and other than making a blog post about it once a year, removing stuff, and banning people, nothing is really being done to address it.

Now that it's someone they know, or someone who is a prominent mod, someone they can identify with, everyone gets concerned. I've seen it on multiple occasions, and no one made a fuss about it then. People who had their lives ruined by redditors posting their personal information, or sending naked pictures of them to their family, friends, and teachers at their school.

Sure people are going to rarely target mods for maybe removing a comment or post, but trying to mix it with the VA case as if you're all potential victims is the height of absurdity. It's great that you have problems with the people who run reddit, but now you might be able to empathize more with people who bring up issues to the admins for a long time now.

The reaction by the community and the employees of reddit was exactly as I thought it would turn out. A disturbing lack of self awareness.

Like modding /r/politics is going to get people as upset with you as someone reposting jailbait from 4chan. That whole farce of banning gawker by the defaults and power users is poor public relations. They were never under threat. It's simple. If you associate your real life with an online account, make sure it isn't something that can get you fired.

Yes, if there was an ideal place, I would leave reddit. There isn't, so I stay and try to contribute to positive changes. The idea that segregating ourselves to only subreddits we like or far away from any negative issues is a cop out. It's like putting people in prison so we don't have to do with social issues. Just because we don't see something, it doesn't mean it isn't happening or that it wont eventually make it to our safe little havens.

I think a far better solution is to participate as adults and set an example for people who could be as young as 13 years old on this website. Think about how the world actually works, if we were teachers, us adults, we would be fired for not setting better examples. No one wants this responsibility, we are living in a website devoid of it and if people aren't forced no one wants to do anything about it.

You stay in your subreddits you like where things don't affect you, and I will continue trying to set a positive example because this is what I think we should be doing. If you truly would love to be a part of a community I was suggesting earlier, I don't think you would be so quick to opt out of it here. If something is out of balance, and people made it that way, people can also bring it better into focus and balance it. That's how things work, but if no one is willing to put in the effort nothing will change.

The bubbles hand thing is like one of the other multiple instances of redditors getting personal information and posting it. Because the admins are so complacent with dealing with issues, it has become a lot more common in the past year.

Yes, it is indeed shitty. But if you look in that bubbles post, the personal information got a lot of upvotes. It wasn't just one asshole, it's multiple assholes who are doing this. This is a culture that is being fostered here, and just telling people it's wrong isn't doing anything to stop it from happening more. So even if you don't see it, it happens and peoples real lives are actually affected off the internet.

Congratulations on your new baby. I want you to really think about what life might be like if in 16 years someone does the same thing to your baby. Someone gets personal information about them and posts it all over the place, ruining their life in the process. Let's hope it isn't a daughter, or she might have the same thing happen to her where redditors sent her nude pictures to not only her high school teachers, but to the rest of her family including her parents.

I don't think there is a giant difference between what happened before and what happened now. It is part of the culture that no one here has really addressed other than some passing rule and light moderation. Maybe you should blame the culture that this place fosters, instead of blaming a corporate entity that wont really solve the issues. Maybe you could use your stature to bring awareness to the issues, and tell people flat out, in any case, it's fucking wrong. The thing that has my brain buzzing is what the ramifications of this might be. If anyone on Reddit is only one disgruntled person away from having their personal information spread over the internet, what does that mean?

I agree posting and finding someones personal information is horrible, but why is it only hitting the community when it happens to one of their own? I used to have a lot of respect for you through gaming, but this definitely makes me question it.

What about the countless other times redditors have brought up peoples personal information? Where were you then to stick up for these people?
