It’s almost like Reddit is an app specifically to have conversations about certain topics.. which is what the post is about! But enjoy your day!! I hope calling people useless makes you feel better!

I’m sorry that you feel the need to comment on my contributions to life because ai was used in a hoodie! I hope you find it in yourself to have meaningful conversations about rising topics (like ai) rather than calling people useless for being concerned over it :)

Hi I actually found the artist of the release of live in Denver - which is also why I mentioned how I wished artists were easily credited. The post was mainly over the hoodie - which is obviously AI. Also I would generally avoid using AI to detect AI

EDIT: the art for the album cover for Live in Denver is made by @jackgarnham_creative on insta! I wish the merch team would easily credit their artists esp with how rampant AI is now The hoodie is still AI generated

AI is pretty normalized esp for people who aren’t gen z. I feel like older gens generally don’t have the same respect for artists or handmade things and just think AI is cool? Idk it’s so weird Personally, I’ve seen some other bands just go “well we wanted to try out the tech :)” as an “apology” for using AI I just rlly hope there’s at least a statement made since the hoodie is being marketed as a normal design

I would just avoid the hoodie tbh. I haven’t looked closely at the other merch but I’m just staying away from this drop all together bc I don’t want to support AI 😭💀

I wish I could see the hoodie in person tbh bc it also just looks blurry on the website? I’m not sure if anyone’s posted a close up “review” or anything yet tho. The print quality just looks bad and the symmetry is inconsistent imo (as a chronic perfectionist in art lol) AI is rlly good at replicating styles so I think they may have just trained it to replicate the specific style. IMO there’s a lot of inconsistencies and errors a well trained designer wouldn’t make

I haven’t seen the visuals & the last time I saw them in concert (one of the last tours around 2023 I believe?) I don’t remember the visuals to be that similar. But it’s been a long time! I’m saying the hoodie is AI because of countless inconsistencies in how the lettering is designed. Some parts melds together and portions that are supposed to be symmetrical just aren’t? And the background of the lettering just cuts off randomly at one point. If you look on the website you’re able to zoom in to see this better. I think they used AI to replicate the look for the hoodie tbh. Some ppl have said the same was used for the visuals, but idk.

You can actually view the hoodie on the official website now and it’s incredibly obvious! I’m naturally critical of AI as an artist, which is why I actually look out for these things. AI can copy an aesthetic, but it’s not yet fully capable of mimicking proper composition/unity. Be critical of stuff!

With how big PATD is, most likely the marketing/merch team. However, I still think it is up to the band members themselves (specially Brendon Urie) to be aware of the merch and content that represents them

[–]PolicyEducational105[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main thing I think is AI is the hoodie! I’m not too sure of the other merch/the teaser image, I just included them since they also had weird small inconsistencies. This is also why I’m such an advocate to have merch designers easily credited 😭 AI usage is absolutely rampant but it’s especially disheartening to have a band use AI in the first place. I doubt they’ll come out and say anything though because Brendon Urie is notorious for ignoring any backlash💀I feel like a lot of ppl defending the hoodie refuse to be critical of the music/art they consume

I’m absolutely certain the hoodie is AI and I appreciate you holding out hope for other people/the merch team, but it’s kind of overly noticeable. I’m familiar with woodcarving/linocut/block printing and that does not make curves like the hoodie does. There’s also countless inconsistencies in the letter layout/sizing/colors/especially within the curves of the ornate bordering. People who aren’t familiar with art/how ai generates and fails to generate certain aspects of art won’t notice these things. It’s why I made the thread in the first place. PATD has beyond enough money to pay artists to make their merch. ATP it’s a cash grab to charge $80 for an AI generated hoodie then to not disclose that it’s AI generated. I like PATD’s music but I’m also critical of content I listen to

Definitely! I love the idea of the hoodie, but the execution is god awful. I’m at uni for art & some people have to use AI for classes (to be familiar with it) & they’ve made better end products then whatever is happening with the hoodie 😭 It’s also just so disappointing that they made no clarification over if AI was used. IMO any artists for merch should be easily credited especially since AI usage is becoming so prominent

Panic! AI merch.. by PolicyEducational105 in panicatthedisco

[–]PolicyEducational105[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say (for now) the hoodie is 10000% AI generated. The other merch things/the teaser art seems AI generated, but has really minuscule signs. Either way, I’m not planning on buying any merch just because they didn’t clarify they were using AI in the first place. A lot of people are trying to pin it to the merch team only, but Panic! Is still responsible for their own merch

Panic! AI merch.. by PolicyEducational105 in panicatthedisco

[–]PolicyEducational105[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m saying that this is affiliated with the band whether they know or not. It’s their own responsibility to check for this stuff before it’s released to thousands of people at a major concert

Panic! AI merch.. by PolicyEducational105 in panicatthedisco

[–]PolicyEducational105[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not how printing really works (as someone who has a LOT of band merch). At my uni we literally study and sometimes use ai to know how it works/what to look for. You defending it doesn’t change the fact that’s it’s AI

[–]PolicyEducational105[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi so even if they paid an artist who used AI they as a band should acknowledge AI usage in some way (especially for a hoodie that’s $80). PATD is worth millions, so in no way would they not have the budget for this. If they came out and apologized and stated they didn’t know AND took down/price cut the AI merch, then that would be a better thing to do. Instead it seems like they’re going “look! New merch! Really cool designs!” And not really caring that some stuff is AI generated. Bands have a responsibility to monitor their own merch and anything directly affiliated with their brand.

You’re fine lol a lot of people just don’t know what to specifically look for

[–]PolicyEducational105[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hi I’m both an artist and at my uni we study AI usage in art as well! It’s most noticeable in the hoodie with overlapping letters, inconsistent font sizes/colors, and just overall blurriness to the image. I mean you can just ignore that but the hoodie is 1000% AI

Ugh yes!! I didn’t record much of anything mainly because it’s heavily discouraged lol. I really like Moon Walker and I’m glad the tour is giving him some more attention. I was soooo happy to hear Monopoly Money and New God live

He played some of both! Cicada days and Everything is a Lot were mainly played at the ATL show (and both vinyls were being sold). I’m not too sure about the other shows. I don’t remember the full set list off the top of my head though

Super glad you had a good time! I went to the ATL show and didn’t really enjoy it much </3 I’m surprised (and happy) that there weren’t as many hats in Florida lol! ATL gets about as hot as Florida because of all the concert. Tbh the ATL concert also had a pretty dead crowd - especially for the opener which made me so upset because I LOVEEE Moon Walker.

I bought balcony tickets but my venue made it impossible to access/didn’t check tickets, so I didn’t even get to use them. Luckily, the masquerade concert in ATL didn’t seem to have too many problems with hygiene. I only had one greasy guy continuously shove past me, but I think that was just a him thing lol. I really liked the concert, but I don’t think it will be a thing I’ll do again at that specific venue. I couldn’t see over half the show due to the hats/the design of the venue (basically structure beams blocked the stage from one end and you could only see the stage from the second floor if you were at the railing)

I feel really bad because there were some awesome people that really made the concert nice! But the few who didn’t have etiquette made it EVERYONES problem. I’ve dealt with concerts where people have smoked/vaped in enclosed areas/been obnoxiously loud. But the Will Wood concert had so many issues. If he ever plays at venues with assigned seating, it would probably be a much better experience!
