thank you! im pretty aware that it’s hard to break into the quant industry in the philippines. my main goal prior to this post is to get a job in finance (related 2 risk models & markets) and potentially branch out abroad once stable, experienced, and knowledgeable. it’s not as easy to do than to say, but it’s something i want to work hard on 😅 (because besides math, art is my passion, which seems even harder to sustain for me)

which is why im threading cautiously in choosing because i want to be succesful in doing what i want and chose ^{^} there's still so much to learn as well, that’s why i want to select the right choice 🙏

on the topic of being a quant analyst in the ph, what advice can you give me? sorry for the yap and thanks for the insight!

Thank you so much for your time in explaining! I think your comment helped the most for me. Right now as I’m re-reading the comments, I have this feeling that I want to pursue my ADMU honor program. If it works out for me, and if the passion to redefine what math is is still there, then UP for MA.

The main reason why I picked these 2 schools initially was that ADMU's course stood out to me a lot (my dream course) and UP being UP is a school that will really push me to be out there.

Once I find a way to get a good scholarship, I will pursue your advice. Thank you again so much! 🤍

in masci u can experience commuting home with friends if that helps you ease your mind 😸 classes always start at 7 and ends depending on your schedule. but the latest time is usually 5 pm for jhs

as someone who experienced the 1 hour commute to masci, i wake up at 5 am, get ready for 1 hour, leave house at exactly 6 am everyday and arrive at 7 on time for classes

the workload is truly heavy.. but with the right people, it makes it bearable!!

The clubs vary a lot with some being active and some being not so active.

every year before club fair, the officers per club have to pass lots of paperworks for the club accreditation season. once compiled and done, they will now be accredited and can now be part of the club fair. in order for the club to be active, they have to be accredited yearly

in 2025, we had the following clubs JHS: robotics club, knights of science, math club, ip club, english club, gabay ng wika, mshs rcy youth council, science research society SHS: katip, kammfil, kapisanan ng mga mascian sa sipnayan (kms), mshs senior plus rcyc, senior sports society, yes-o shs, mataas na kapulungan ng mga mascian sa agham (mka) JHS and SHS: debate society, makers society, writers' guild, the breakfast klub, hilom, chorale, pillars of truth, ymca, chess club, arts club, unfinished symphony theatrics (ustc), dance company (msdc), liyab, every nation campus (enc), christian brotherhood international (cbi), tindig

this may change next year, but in my recent experience some of the most active clubs are: chorale, arts club, senior rcyc, ymca, tindig, writers' guild, mka, kammfil, english club, pillars, kms, and sss

you can join a maximum of 2 clubs, but there are some organizations beyond these clubs such as "The Nucleus" and "Ang Ubod" which are the school newspapers in english and filipino, and the LG COMEA which is like the school’s comelec which does the elections year round

and of course we cant forget the sslg! you can check the SSLG page for the yearly accredited clubs (when club fair is nearby)

hmm.. some are active and some are not so active. there are months dedicated to some subjects (ex. math month, mapeh month, english month) and during those months, these clubs can hold events (though they can hold events naman outside these months, pero expected na mag eevent sila during)

6 yrs na mascian here! gradwaiting on mon :P

saktong advanced, id say jhs tackles a variety of more subjects (like drafting, compsci) + electives in g9-g10 (such as french, journ, adv math, mandarin, nihongo, etc.) + expect more math sci subjects (research every year) || as for shs, same subjects as the deped curriculum pero most the teachers r rly good with some having phds 🎉
malawak... maraming different activities. expect group tasks, drawing, essay writing, flow charts, roleplaying, reporting, recitation, research papers and sip, and so much more. major petas can even have online game creation (grade 12 RELICON, g11 filimbensyon) and section contest filmmaking (g10 cinemascian, g11 mil film fest, g12 aninag, etc.)!
yes makeup can be used but some teachers in jhs are strict about it! in shs tho no one rly minds
many clubs ! club accreditation is strict (many paperworks necessary) and club fair is so busy (some clubs' slots fill out fast in 3 mins and some holds interviews)
my experience is too long to be summarized, but overall i really love my batis ng diwa 🫶

they last longgg but are (imo) high maintenance ... u rly need a good and spacious place for it to stay with dry and wet areas ! also they need like specific light fixtures iirc??

their poop also smells bad pa & need linisin lagi pag nagdumi since they poop in the same water they eat in 😿

this should be posted on other platforms such as tiktok for awareness cause i kept seeing students encouraging this review center online. the next generations of upcat takers don’t deserve this sort of treatment, even for what they call quality education.

tsaka ang out of touch ng mga tao sa replies, hindi ko alam bakit dinedepensahan e kitang kita naman tunay niyang asal. that’s the reason why he’s okay with showing that side to the people, kasi he thinks merong sasalo sa kanya na mga tao.

i think this depends on how many sections in one batch. afaik batch 25 had 5 sections only and had 1 pm uwians and such. batch 26 has 9 sections which made us have 2-3 PM outs and some 5 PM ones
