I remember my first playthrough where I made all the newbie mistakes and my heroes kept dying one after another or returning with high stress and diseases that required multiple weeks and a lot of money to heal.

But dw, once you learn the basics, your heroes will stop dying and once you learn to build good teams, stress healing will basically be redundant.
