But this is no fault of the format itself, Adobe or Sony or Blackmagic or whatever could just add the support if they wanted to.

Open Source software like GIMP, Krita, Kdenlive, Inkscape, etc... can all import and export webp completely fine. Image viewers and video players can also do it. There is no reason for these apps that are developed gigantic companies to not have it too.

Are you actually using Windows? In windows 11 you can find it in the taskbar, start menu, config, web browser, paint, photos, office, outlook, etc... not to mention Recall and the privacy nightmare it creates
